Eyygui (Russian: Эййлуи, Esperanto: Ejjgŭijo, pronounced [eɪːɡwi]), also the Constitutional Monarchy of Eyygui, formaly the Holy Empire of Eyygui, is a nation located in the Democratic Union. The nation forms the western third of Claw Island. It also controls a large land mass on the main continent, which was taken during a series of wars waged to expand the colonial empire.

Eyygui has a population of 767 million people who enjoy extensive civil rights and political freedoms. The people are free to worship whatever they like although the nation is ruled by a Solist Angel, Islandiel. Eyygui has recently has made a stride towards peace in the international point of view, while it focuses on its internal problems.

History

The History of Eyygui is complex although has lead to high international involvement. From Eyygui's humble beginnings as a small backwater nation to its rise to control the largest empire in the Democratic Union.

First Odinhab/Chucknorris War

Odinhab's dreams of imperialism lead it to start a campaign to conquer its neighbor of Chucknorriville. The war would of been won by the nation of Odinhab seeing as it had a stronger economy, army, and more people. Yet Solray's involvement assured its defeat. Abascalania then joined the side of Odinhab and the war escalated quickly. Solray landed troops in Abascalania, where they were met by many of Abascalania's troops. Eyygui then entered the war, seeing its greatest ally, Abascalania, fighting an overwhelming number of Solray's troops. Solray's troops were surrounded by the Eyyguian/Abascalanian troops and it withdrew its troops. Odinhab came out victorious in the war. It now gained possesion of Chucknorrisville's only island and was assured control of the Odinhab/Chucknorrisville bay.

War of the Rebels

After The Glorious Empire witnessed the collapse of its government, some supporters of the previous government started to terrorize local inhabitants of Plot D. Eyygui proceded to enter the struggle to eliminate the rebels and began the invasion of The Glorious Empire's land in Plot D. The Glorious Empire's rebel troops put up a hell of a fight. Realizing that they could not couter a charge of Eyyguian Tiger Tanks, they fled into the forrest. Eyygui sought to bomb the troops out of the forest but a large fire was started. This worked greatly for the Eyyguian troops as the rebels were now surrounded by the fire to the east, west, and south, Eyygui's troops were positioned in the north. The rebels decided to dig out a long forgotten tunnel that would lead them to The Glorious Empire, but constant Eyyguian bombings led to the tunnel's collapse. In the end Eyygui gained control of its first colony, with the death of almost 300,000 rebels and only 10,000 Eyyguian deaths.

Wars of Colonial Expansion

During the War of the Rebels, intervention by Abascalania and Chucknorrisville gained them some land as well. Both of those nations then began to combat each other, with involvment of the nation of Kolios. Eyygui then decided to take their territorial gains during the previous war. The opportunist government began to demand the lands. Abascalania and Chucknorrisville both gave up their gains from the previous war just by intimidation. However Abascalania still controlled a large plot of land in Map plot D, Eyygui began to conquer it. Abascalania surrendered the land due to an overwhelming number of nations fighting it. Eyygui extended its colonial empire two fold.

Culture

Cut off from the rest of the DU by the sea and somewhat secure from invasion, the Eyyguians developed their own character and way of life. They came to respect privacy and to value new traditions. They developed a dry wit, a love for personal freedom, and a high degree of patriotism. The Eyyguians have shown themselves at their best--brave and united--in times of crisis.

Food

Eyyguian food is primarily based on grains, which are the prominent crop among farmers in southern Eyygui. Due to the majority of the people being Solist, beef is not a common sight in the Eyyguian household. Fish on the other hand can usually be found in most households of Eyygui. Eyygui's many rivers and lakes provide and abundance salmon and bass while the ocean provides tuna and sardines. A recent growth of the Soda Companies has lead to increased useage of cola-beverages.

Entertainment

Movies are one of Eyygui's most popular pastimes. International films are not as popular as homemade movies. Novelas are incredibly popular especially in the adult demographic. Books are encouraged at all schools across Eyygui but are not widley purchased among the younger generations.

Sports

Sports in Eyygui are very important. From an early age Eyyguians are taught football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Physical Education classes are mandatory across all schools in Eyygui. Eyyguians have earned over 10 medals in the two Olympics held so far in the Democratic Union.

Geography and Climate

The landscape and the climate of Eyygui varie dramatically. Each area of Eyygui has its own characteristics and attract tourists of any different prefrence.

Barren North

The North is a wild, windswept region, broken by frequent ice storms and constantly pounded by snow. Much of Northern Eyygui also has many mountains, which are thought to have many caves, but is mostly a frozen tundra. Although this area is not densly populated many of the Solists call Northern Eyygui "Home". Here Eyygui shares a land border with the nation of Buenos Aires DF. Buenos Aires DF is the only nation to share a land border with mainland Eyygui.

Central Paradise

Central Eyygui is famous for its rugged mountains and deep, green valleys. This area is more densly populated than the north. Tourists are much attracted to Central Eyygui for its calm, green landscape. Central Eyygui enjoys mildly warm climate during the months of May to August, while a strong winter chills the region from September to April.

Bustling South

Most of Southern Eyygui is covered by rolling plains laid out in a patchwork of fields and meadows. The coastline is a shifting scene of steep cliffs, golden beaches, jagged rocks, and fishing towns tucked in sheltered bays. Eyygui has magnificent port cities and a very modern capital, Dalaran, as well as snug villages and many other sprawling inland cities. Eyygui also has many universities and new factories. The climate of Southern Eyygui is mostly warm, with some cool weather during the winter months.

Eyyguian Channel

The Eyyguian Channel separates the island of Eyygui from her colony in the main continent. This narrow stretch of water has two large islands which connect mainland Eyygui and the colony. This channel has helped shape the character and history of the Eyyguian people. It helped protect Eyygui from invasion and given the people a feeling of security. The country has never been invaded from the other nations.

Religion

Althought officially a Solist nation, Eyygui allows for freedom of religion and has a small amount of alternative faiths. Solism, the largest by far constitutes 95% of the population. Floydism is the second largest, accounting for approximately 2% of the population. The new Abascalanian religion Excathism has started to take root in Eyygui, already accounting for 2%. The remaining 1% are thought to be Satanists, Atheists, or Christians.

Government

The Government of Eyygui has usually been stable for many years, although when it is destroyed, it gets transformed radically.

President Edward

The government of Eyygui changed frequently in the past before achieving its current relative stability. The first government was a traditional representative democracy. President Edward was the executive head and a 300-member Senate served as a legislature. Edward them started to ponder on the state of Shockway. He revealed to the Senate that Shockway was abusing human rights and creully testing humans for cloning research. The Senate wanted to avoid another war and proposed a peacefull resolution to the issue. After Edward acted militarily against Shockway without the approval of the Senate, he was impeached and later imprisoned. Rather than replace him, the Senate assumed executive powers and directly governed the nation for a short while.

Islandiel's Solism

Finally, the Ustarema, god of Solism, sent the nation an Angel. His name was Islandiel, and he proclaimed himself the ruler of Eyygui. After a brief and bloodless takeover, Islandiel came to power. He kept the Senate in place to help him govern the nation. The majority of the people who were devout Solists welcomed Islandiel's rule with open arms. Yet some groups, such as the Satanists, who are thought to be funded by The Glorious Empire, have become extremely violent recently.

Garikius the Wise

After Eyygui's first civil war was over, the former Senate was victorious. The civil war which took the lives of over 100,000 Eyyguians and cost the nation over 300 million dollars in damage, brought upon Garikius the Wise. Garikius was a prominent member of the Senate during the reign of President Edward and continued to serve Eyygui under the reign of Islandiel. He led the Senatites against the Satanists in the Eyyguian Civil War and was victorious. When the war was over Garikius was declared Monarch of Eyygui, and his family became the first ever royal family of Eyygui. He then installed a parliament and Eyygui was made into The Constitutional Monarchy of Eyygui. The new government has issued many laws to destroy the Satanist religion.

Population

The ratio of men to women is 1:1.098. Life expenctancy in Eyygui is relatively high. The 2006 census reported that the average male lives up to 82 years while the average woman lives to 85. This can be attributed to the government's large Social Welfare program as well as the growing Healthcare program. Together these two programs allow for the people of lower income to live with much health.

Internal Issues

While Eyygui maintains its reputation of being one of the most liberal nations in the DU, it is flooding with internal issues. These range from the terrorizing Satanists to the issue of trade.

When Islandiel came to power, the Solists welcomed him with open arms, but others such as the Satanists did not approve of his rule. Eyyguian Satanists have become extremely violent in the past few years of Islandiel's rule. They are believed to be funded by The Glorious Empire. It is thought that Eyygui's involvement in the Crusade of the Glorious Empire is the main cause of their violence. They have bombed a total of 24 Solist temples, killing a total of 654 civilians. Islandiel issued an order arrest and interrogate any and all Satanists. More recently many Satanist leaders have been captured and the attacks have died down.

Trade has always been an important issue in Eyygui. Once thought to be in the far corner of the world, it has made various strides to gaining trading partners and land. Through the reign of Edward, Eyygui captured a series of colonies in the main continent. However, they came with the price of betraying Abascalania, Eyygui's greatest ally. Thousands died, but the outcome was very beneficial for Eyygui. It now controls the central northern seas and its trade has flourished. As a result the economy is one of the most stable and robust in the Democratic Union.
