F-31X Cyclone
The F-31X Cyclone is a land based interceptor based wholly on the X-31 technology demonstrator. Designed by Phoenix Dynamix, it is an extremely maneuverable fighter, virtually unsurpassed in agility and has been in service with several nations' air forces for many years. Lessons learned from the extensive combat record and operational history of the F-31X as well as the years of experience gained by its large scale production lead to the development and rapid production of advanced fighters such as the F-2 Talon and F-421 Hermes. While attempts were made to diversify the Cyclone's role were made -- for example the addition of support for a pair of AGM-65 mavericks under the fuselage for a ground attack role -- the F-31X never evolved into a multi-role fighter, but instead remains one of the most advanced interceptors in service today.
