The F-4X Phantom II is a Phoenix Dynamix improvement of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. While many of the concepts came from the reverse engineering of the never produced Israeli prototype F-4-2000, many Phoenix Dynamix innovations were carried over from the A-4X project. The biggest changes are the engines, radar, electronic systems and the lack of a second crew member. It is classed as a Mach 2+ aircraft and is considered by many, to be the equal of the F/A-18 Hornet. Some would argue that it is better than the Hornet and instead one notch above, while still being one notch below the Super Hornet. It is sold as an inexpensive alternative to more modern fighters and competes directly with the MiG-35 and F-16 on the international market. The largest advantages the Phantom has over its competitors are its low cost, established and proven service record and carrier capability.
