Airframe

The Sanchez's airframe is built with a wide variety of composites, with titanium applied to the exhaust nozzles and control surfaces. The total composition of the airframe is 68% composites, 16% Titanium, 12% Aluminum-Titanium Alloy and 4% Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastics. The cockpit is reinforced with a "titanium bathtub" style armor like that of the A-10 Warthog.

Its small size makes it more difficult to be detected by active radar than the more common full-sized fighters, and its airframe also incorporates several features, giving the aircraft a radar cross section of only one square meter at a 44km range. The front section of the aircraft is chinned to give a low signature, the wing and fuselage surfaces are blended and the air intakes are shaped. The entire aircraft is coated with Radar Absorbent Material to further reduce the radar signature.

Electronic Equipment

The F/A-335 is equipped with the Nastel APS-11/R Radar, with a tracking range of 120km against fighters and 200km against bomber-sized aircraft.

The glass cockpit layout and the instrumentation resemble that of the Eurofighter Typhoon. The cockpit is fitted with 4 touch-screen anti-glare liquid crystal multifunction displays. The onboard computer system is fully hardened from EMP pulses and is somewhat protected from jamming.

The F/A-335 is fully HOTAS capable, and its electronic flight control system incorporates a quadruplex digital fly-by-optics system.

The Sanchez is also equipped with the Automatic Ordnance/Balance Control Unit (AO/BCU) subsystem, which manages the ordnance and fuel onboard the aircraft in order to keep it as balanced as possible with minimum pilot interference. It can also indicate or automatically choose the best weapon to be used against the currently locked target.

Forward-looking infrared and helmet-mounted sights are also standard, along with a laser designator.

Safety Features

Ejection Seat

The Sanchez is equipped the MAC Universal Ejection Seat. The seat features a faster deploying drogue parachute which is housed in the enclosure behind the headrest.

Survival Kit

Attached to the parachute harnesses with a 10m dropline and stowed on the back of the seat, it is deployed along with the parachute (and consequent pilot/seat separation). It contains 1 GPS system, 1 Flashlight, 1 .40 Caliber Pistol with Silencer and Flashlight, 2 V-40 Hand Grenades, 1 KA-BAR Combat Knife, 1 Signal Mirror, 2 Waterproof Location Beacons, 1 Emergency Locator System, 1 Waterproof Encrypted Radio, 1 Waterproof Flare Gun with 10 Aerial Flares, 2 Handheld Flares, 1 Waterproof Compass, 1 Combat Shovel, 2 Magnesium and Steel Fire Starters, 1 Bottle of Water Purification Tablets, 1 Bottle of Iodine Tablets, 1 Large Bottle of Insect/Arachnid Repellant, 1 Butane Lighter with 2 Medium Butane Canisters, 10 10-Hour Warming Packs, 1 Large MedKit, 5 MRE's, 1 Sexual Protection Kit.

Canopy

An explosive det-cord is embedded within the bullet resistant glass of the canopy, which shatters it simultaneously with the firing of the seat. The canopy is capable of resisting .50 calbier projectiles and most fragments from anti-aircraft shells.
