The Foreign Intelligence and Security Service is the primary intelligence agency of Raxtia, and is currently the only operational service in the nation.
Establishment & Role
The service was originally planned for a 2016 start up date, however the government decided to give the service a trial run before launching it and the other three services properly in 2016.
The role of the service, when operational, will be to protect Raxtia against the threats of terrorism from abroad, it will work with the other services to stop human trafficking and drugs smuggling, it will gather intelligence on any hostile nations (Raxtia posesses no military forces) and will also identify foreign threats to the safety of Raxtia and its people.
The service, along with the other three services, will also be primarily responsible for ensuring that threats to Raxtia in the form of terrorism are not able to damage the nation or its people. The government cannot comment on any specific operation that will be carried out, either during the trial period or during full operation.
Staffing
The number of staff in the service will be 2,000 when operational, but that will soon go up as the work of the service becomes more complex and secretive. The trial run will be with 750 staff from the police, the Customs Services, some specialists from the militia group in the country and some hired staff.
Headquarters
The headquarters has been chosen as a site in Relekettia (Raxtia's capital) Known as Cruz De Providencia (Providence Cross). The headquarters buildings are modern and well suited to an service of the type. The buildings have a reasonably close proximity to the central square and the Palace De Democracie, and they are in the safe region of the capital, where terrorists, if there are any willing to target Raxtia, will probably be spotted by either armed police on the ground or by covert CCTV cameras, which are only used to monitor public activities around government HQ or any government agency HQ's.
