Little Slice of Falcania

Somehow, the innumerable citizens of Falcania are crammed onto a tiny island and a miniscule nub of mainland in the south-east of Atlantian Oceania. Falcania has been called "One of the last bastions of pure, unsullied capitalism left in the world," and indeed this is true. Most Falcanians are hardworking, rich and cynical. The Falcanian way of life is "Work hard, reap the rewards, retire happy and rich." As such, there is little room for slackers. There is no welfare state to speak of, so in Falcania it is, quite literally, work or starve. Immigrants are welcome, provided they work. Anyone who enters the country is welcome to work, although they get less preferential treatment than natives. Any immigrant who is prepared to work hard can reap the rewards just like a native.

History of Falcania

A peaceful nation until 1950, Falcania prospered but did not make itself noticed. A rather dull country, you may say. All until April 1950, when Terranea invaded the sub-Pacific Border. Falcania was hit hard, with the Terri forcing themselves upon the country. Within a year, it was under total occupation, with the TDF [Terri Discipline Force] patrolling the streets with rights to do whatever they wanted. The TDF, also known as Blackies because of the black suits they wore, were permanently at war with the Falcanian Militia, who wanted freedom. Led by Commander William Falcon, they fought tooth-and-nail with the Terri, and finally, on August 1 1954, they won a critical battle. Having driven the TDF to the capital Mathdon, the FM destroyed them and were victorious. Falcon was crowned King Falcon I on the battlefield.

All was great until August 1 2004, when a Terri assassin killed him whilst he was celebrating his Golden Jubilee. His son, then Cmmr Ridley Falcon II, suceeded to the throne, proclaiming his country a "Free Kingdom" in memory of his father.

Mutation

Ever since the early days of Falcania the genetic stock of the average Falcanian has been questionable, partly due to Falcania's location atop a seam of isotopically-unstable actinides, and partly due to the average Falcanian's staple diet of fried falcon meat with strips of fried maripip. This contributed to the rise of Homo Sapiens Falconis in the very earliest days of both "human races." However, interbreeding resulted in the recessive genes being forced into obscurity compared to the "regular genes." However, in the 20th Century the stock came to the fore again. The changes first started to manifest themselves in the early 1960s, with many people reporting that their children had started to exhibit strange characteristics, particularly harder nubs of bone on the shoulder blades. Falcanian Military

The Falcanian military is notable mainly for its complete abolition of a conventional navy, phenomenally large airforce, and a contingent composed of lighter-than-air aircraft, dubbed the Aerial Navy, who are proving their worth in military action in Operation Galactica and also against Hockey Canada.
