Federal Commonwealth Society
Federal Commonwealth Society (also known as FCS) was the main and founder region of the inter-regional group, the Federal Commonwealth Society Treaty Organisation (FCSTO).
History
A very brief history of the region, reconstructed as best as possible.
Founded in March 2004, the region grew fairly quickly. A handful of protectorates were founded, the first and most successful being British Overseas Territory (BOT). The FCSTO was created to unify and administer these regions. The FCS also joined Alliance Defense Network.
Early in the summer of 2005 (northern hemisphere - about May), the Founder and Delegate, Great Britain--, was deleted for inactivity. In his absence, a member named Posul took over the role of Prime Minister, eventually attempting to unify the region with Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I). The people of FCS protested and the union was cancelled. This was mid-late summer, 2005.
At about this time, Great Britain-- came back with a new nation, Great Britain--- (GB---). Posul raised some doubts that this new nation was who he claimed to be, and refused to allow Great Britain--- into the FCS. As a result, GB--- created a new region which he named A Federal Commonwealth Society and encouraged FCS members to join this new region instead of staying with Posul, who he branded a traitor. A large number of FCS members followed him, but a large number also remained. This was the beginning of the FCS Civil War.
Over the next few months, the two regions bickered and argued, while BOT did its best to remain neutral in the conflict. Little was resolved until late in September, when Posul suddenly announced he was leaving the region and moving to GB&I; in his final post he stated he thought another member called Moonseed should take over the running of the region.
After Posul's departure, a nation called Lance of Longinus took the delegacy. This nation had been present in the region for a few weeks and had been gathering endorsements quietly as a precursor to a 'sleeper' invasion. As soon as this nation realised what had happened, it declared its true intentions. Claiming to act on behalf of the ADN, he declared the Civil War over with a victory for GB---'s side. ADN have consistely denied any involvement with this nation, however. A handful of nations including Moonseed questioned Longinus' motives, and these nations were promptly ejected from the region (although were let back in to avoid breaking griefing rules).
GB--- returned to FCS early in October and eventually re-took the delegacy with the help of some genuine ADN nations, and set about re-organising the region. Lance of Longinus was never seen again. Some nations from AFCS returned to FCS with GB---, however by this time AFCS had taken on a character of its own and still remains seperate from FCS to this day.
Partly in order to foster the spirit of co-operation between previous enemies, GB---'s new cabinet included nations which had remained with Posul (such as Moonseed). By the end of November, a degree of normality had returned, and a few new protectorates (Birmingham, British Commonwealth, and Empire of Great Britain) were founded.
The first new general elections were called for early December, and saw GB--- beat Moonseed by a considerable margin. Moonseed departed the region to take the reigns in Birmingham. The new cabinet included Mattvia as Foreign Minister, and Absurda as Deputy Prime Minister.
At Christmas, 2005, a nation named Austria-hungary and a small number of other UN nations invaded the GB&I protectorate of The Falkland Islands, claiming it on behalf of the FCS. GB&I naturally demanded an explanation, but were initially ignored by the FCS cabinet (who later denied any knowledge of the incident). GB&I thus felt compelled to declare war on FCS.
At the end of March 2006, GB--- decided it was time for FCS to be founded. Nations were asked to move to FCS Temp so that FCS could be started again.
The war with GB&I had been pretty quiet for a long time, until May 2006, when a delegation from the FCSTO (including The Planet Federation (Prime Minister), Moonseed (Deputy Prime Minister) and Mattvia (Foreign Minister) arrived in GB&I to negotiate peace terms. Initial reception was very frosty, until The Planet Federation (TPF) discovered evidence that there had indeed been a top-secret coverup by some FCS members in December 2005 involving an invasion of The Falkland Islands. TPF announced this to GB&I and a ceasefire and then peace terms were eventually arrived at.
While this was going on, the FCS was becoming more and more inactive. Or less and less active, if you prefer. Due to inactivity by GB--- himself, Mattvia was appointed Prime Minister of the region, which by the end of August 2006 did not even have enough active members to despatch Senators to the new FCSTO Senate.
On August 27th, GB---, the last remaining nation in FCS, moved his nation out of the region intending to refound at the next update. However a DEN agent, paying far closer attention to FCS than was expected, noticed this and moved in to refound the region before GB--- himself could do for. FCS itself has now been claimed by DEN, and GB--- is attempting to restart the region at "The FCS"
Government
The FCS has very little in the way of formal government, due to inactivity. Mattvia is nominally the Prime Minister, and the Delegate in FCS Temp is Voicetrack. It had been hoped to rebuild the region somewhat after refounding, however the future of the FCS is now in doubt. Currently it can be found at "The FCS" in game.
Alliances
The FCS and FCSTO are allied with Nasicournia, and are part of the CSA and ADN alliances.
