In real-life terms the Federal Republic of Victoria is a vast, fictional nation located in the Southern Hemisphere and comprising the world's smallest continent of Terra Australis (also known as 'Australia'), the islands of Nova Zeelandia (also known as 'New Zealand') and Victorian Guinea (or "Papua New Guinea"), with a predominately European population.

Originally a collection of several British colonies, these settlements federated to form the Commonwealth of Victoria in the later part of the 19th century. Though the Commonwealth was self-governing, she remained a dominion within the British Empire and continued to recognize the reigning monarch until full independence was granted from the Crown and the Federal Republic was formed. Since its formation, the Federal Republic has maintained a stable, liberal democracy. It has developed into a vibrant and very free-market economy.

The Federal Republic is divided into nine main administrative divisions now known as provincial states: Eboracum, Kingsland, Amerdonium, New South Wales, North Victoria Island, South Victoria Island, Valiturus, Venustas, Western Victoria. Victorian Guinea is considered to be an external territory, which itself is broken down into several states. Under Victorian jurisdiction are also a number of small islands throughout the Asia Pacific region, many of these are for the most part self-governing, though are reliant on the Federal Republic for matters relating to foreign policy and defence.
