The Academic Federation of Fiat Lux Colleges is a generally liberal and progressive nation with a highly educated and idealistic population. Government is made up of three branches, the Chancellery (highly defined executive), the Academic Senate (upper house or representatives), and the Associated Student Body (lower house of representatives). Education and research, coupled with a certain degree of humanity and environmentalism, are the prime ideologies of the people. This comes at the expense of a large economy and spirituality.
Recent labor disruptions have exasperated the fragile economy. This is in addition to the existing trade inbalace in the alcoholic beverages industry. Civic leaders are currently investigating a mysterious dip in productivity on Friday mornings. Nonetheless, Fiat Lux Colleges' intellectual revenue keeps the economy afloat. A large gap between the pay scales of research-professors and lecturers is a potential problem that has yet to be addressed.
The nation was relatively untouched by the war that toppled the PRC, Fiat Lux Colleges has become a regional leader in maintaining the new peace through dialogue. Fiat Lux Colleges' role as the center of higher education in the region has given the population a cosmopolitan outlook and culture that rivals that of the New York City area. The improving economy and the rebuilding of ties in the greater Pacific region has given the population of Fiat Lux Colleges an opportunity to usher in a new age of intellectualism and social responsibility.
While other nations might be ready to send in missionaries or troops, Fiat Lux Colleges is sending in engineers, intellectuals, scientists, and artists. The rebuilding of post-PRC culture and intellectualism and the spreading of civil rights and liberal/socialist ideals is the new calling of Fiat Lux Colleges.
