The Follower Destroyer is a terrifying vessel, the first stage in a Follower Attack on a planet. The Destroyer is used in space to obliterate entire enemy capitol ships and space stations, and can enter a planet's atmosphere to attack the surface.

Size

The Destroyer is 24 kilometres in Diameter. This immense size has several advantages. One is that the size makes it incredibly difficult to destroy, as it takes a huge amount of damage to finally take down. It also has a severe morale effect on enemy fighters who see it. The size is due to the massive generators needed to power the shields and Schism Superweapon

The Schism

The Schism is the primary weapon of the Destroyer. It is a powerful superweapon which is used to take out enemy Capitol Ships and entire cities. It also used in terraforming moves. It leaves no radiation or other lethal residue, allowing immediate colonisation.

The Schism can be seen in the diagram above, the circular area in the middle. The weapon takes a long time to charge up, but once fired is terribly destructive. First the Petals (as they are known) open, revealing the inner part. These act as covers for the Schism, hiding it and shielding it from enemy fire. Once the petals are open, the eight Chargers extend from around the rim of the Schism. These are actually much longer than they seem, stretching all the way to the very edge of the Destroyer. This immense length allows the particles time to fully heat up as they are fired down the Charger. The Chargers slowly push themselves towards the very center of the Schism, at the same time that the inner cover opens.

The Inner Cover is a huge upside down pyramid shape, which houses the Crystal Focusing Matrix. Once the cover is fully open, the Crystal Matrix moves downwards to meet the energy particles released from the Chargers. The Particles are collected within the Crystal Matrix. The massive generator which takes up the rest of the Pyramid inner core then powers up, and fires a single carrier beam through the energy collected, which is in itself destructive, the intense heat causing fires to begin and small scale explosions.

In the final phase, the energy being fired from the tips of the Chargers stops coming, and once the final particles have entered into the Crystal, the Matrix fires the energy down the carrier beam. The result is an extremely powerful blast, which creates a firestorm, spreading outward from the firing point. This firestorm can obliterate entire cities. The weapon s most effective if targeted on a tall building near the center of a target city/colony. When used against an enemy ships, the Final Blast is almost certain to destroy the ship instantly.

Defenses

The Destroyers have a powerful defensive mechanism to make up for their small number of attack weapons. The shield. The shield is powered by 2 massive Anti-Matter Annihilation Reactors. The Shield covers the entire ship from attack, and is double layered around the Schism. The shield is extremely powerful, allowing almost nothing through, and that which does get through is weakened in velocity, so may not cause a lot of damage.

The Destroyers also have several Plasma Cannons hidden inside compartments to take out enemy fighters, although the Destroyers mainly rely on the huge number of Fighters to defend itself, should the shield fail.
