Formossa is a nation which resides in the Atlantic, even though it does have good relations with a number of European nations, it has last been ranked by the United Nations as a Corporate Bordello and it has an population of 1,7 billion. It is an isolationist nation that has only recently begun opening ties to the outside, and it focuses on defense.

Aristocracy
Since the independence of Formossa in 1870, the Aristocracy has played a major role, the people of Formossa have been convinced of the necesssity to be lead by an absolute monarch, and Formossa has been an safe place for all aristocratic families, most of which owned, and still do large plots of land. In the first 14 year, there was alot of switching between monarchs, due to a number of coups, and kings stepping down, however with the Habsburg-Dering line, which was part of the family from which Formossa revolted, able leadership was found, and Formossa went on towards the future.
The Aristocracy has continued to play an major role in Formossa, important Formossan Aristocratic houses would include the next to the ruling Habsburg-Dering House, the von Mises House, the von Hayek House, the Thorbecke House and the Bastiat House. Aristocrats have been active in the Formossan Industry, and are major shareholders in various companies sometimes lending money, this has led to various banks to be created by them, and most Banks bear the name of an important family.
Aristocrats also play an major role in the government, they usually sit on various commissions, however this isn't only because they are from an good family, regularly this is also because the Arisotcrats simply have the best education. It is clear that it are the Aristocrats who decide who rules the government, and are in control of the Government Administration.
Government Administration
The Government has an small size, and is governed in a clear top down way, at the top of the government stands the King, who is adviced by a number of advisory bodies, and rules over his Cabinet, and the Cabinet control the different ministries. There are a number of Non-Governmental Organisations who operate as an mix of political parties, lobby groups and think tanks and have major influence in the Government.
Conservatism
When it comes to the individual freedoms of the people of Formossa, Conservatism has had the most influence, and has led the government in almost all aspects, except for the economy and diplomatic affairs. The Church has some major influence in the Government, which has led to some major restrictions on the civil liberties, Conservatism has been deciding the policy when it comes to Law and Order and Defense.
Conservatism has been traditionally one of the ideologies supported by the Aristocrats (even though the New Aristocracy has been giving preference to Classic-Liberalism,) but also has been supported by the Church. It is frowned upon by the Commerce because of it's economic policies.
Law & Order
The police is hard on crime, even though they will usually let criminals who did an victimless crime go if it allows them to capture one who did a crime with an victim. The police is tough on crime, and isn't afraid to use harsh punishments. The Prisons are hard, and punishments are long, most prisons are made profitable through forced labor.
Defense
The Army takes up most of the Formossan Budget, and it is specialized in fighting in mountains and in special forces. Special Forces include Assault and Heavy Weapoy Support Battalions, the VASO unit, Ohter parts of the armed forces include the Army and the Air Force. Most of the weaponry is bought from the Arsenal
Classic-Liberalism
Classic-Liberalism has been a more recent influence in the Formossan Government, and it has it's roots in the Formossan School in Economics, led by Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich von Hayek, which managed to influence the economic policies of the government to an huge extent, and also contributed to the isolationism. Still, Classic-Liberals have influence over the government, they control the Finances and Economics Ministry, and Diplomatics.
Economics & Finance
The Formossan Government focuses on capitalism, there are low taxes, and an deficit is always prevented. The economy isn't regulated and there are no social welfare policies. Economics & Finance are led by Classic-Liberalism, however with an link to the Meritocracy, as the University of Vienna has some major influence in this Ministry.
Diplomatics
While Conservatives and Classic-Liberals used to agree on isolationism, throughout the years the opinion of conservatives has changed while the classic-liberals remained the same. The Classic-Liberals are behind the current isolationism although they recently have begun making some cautious steps into the open, by joining the United Nations and the Confederacy of Atlantic Nations.
Meritocracy
The last pillar is Meritocracy, this mainly means the Universities, who hold significant power around the government, this isn't only because of themselves, the Aristocrats have good links to the Universities, and the University of Vienna is the driving force behind Classic-Liberalism. Still the Universities own the Ministry of Education. They have used this tool continiously to expand their influence, and they have also influenced the economy with it, however only within the limits set by the other Pillars.
Education
Education has been important to Formossa for a long time, when Formossa was created it was mainly an agricultural and mining nation. The newly installed King understood this and began an education program, which was the driving force behind the conversion to an service-based/industrial economy. This happened through the Education Ministry, and it has never completly lost the power that it wielded back then.
