General Information about Franberry

Franberry, Officially: The Holy Empire of Franberry is a country whose mainland is located in Haven, although it holds many overseas territories. Franberry shares borders with Rana, Relative Liberty and The Southwestern States. Franberry has one of the smallest populations in the region.

Geography

The mainland of Franberry is located in southern Haven, it also holds many overseas territories. It shares land borders with Rana to the west, Relative Liberty to the west, and with The Southwestern States to the north-west. The Allanean territory of Roanoke lies slightly more than 600km to the east, over the water. To the north, Franberry is bordered by the Hallad Straight, and to the south it is bordered by the Pacific Ocean. Franberry is the southern-most territory in Haven.

The west of the country is enveloped my a massive mountain range, which is heavily wooded at lower altitudes. This region is covered in snow for almost 8 months per year. It is inhabited by people who have demostrated characteristics of resistance against cold and of heightened endurance, they are, however, few in number. The population of this area is a mere 200 million.

The south of the country is warm farmland, dotted with small forests and low hills. The climate is warm year-round, and it is densly populated, the majority of the population inhabits this area, some 2,000 million. The western coast generally has the same characteristics as the south of the country, although the temperature drops as you go further north, the forests get bigger, and the hills get taller.

The center of the country is a large arid valley, with minor oil reserves. This desert is bordered by a small jungle to the south, separating it from the southern areas.

History

Before Colonization

The First Settlers The first settlers came to the HuoH in the year 1345 AB (Anon Berriani). They numbered at around 200, 70% of whom were men, and sailed to the continent in search of new land. They had left their previous home, the name and location of which has been lost for centuries, due to religious persecution, and seeked a brand new place they could call their own. Kiakewo was that place; the moment they landed, the settlers were overwhelmed by the lush and untouched forestry that surrounded them. They set about building a shoreline camp, which was to become Franciscopolis, the capital city of what is now known as Franberry.

The Discovery of a New Land By the year 1400, Franberry was a thriving young nation; their towns and cities lined the eastern seabord and were connected by an intricate road system. They had a fast growing economy, helped along by the huge amount of natural resources they had at their disposal, and the inevitable trade lines that followed. However, the leaders of Franberry began to wonder just how big Kiakewo was. Their explorers had built cities as far back as they could reach through the dense jungle, but they had no idea just how big the continent was. And so an exploration party of 100 men was sent to take a few ships around the coast and see what they could find. They got about half way across the country, when a rough storm sent them smashing into the rocks. When the storm subsided, the crews emerged to find the ships irreparably damaged, effectively shutting them off from the mainland.

Politics

The Franberrian goverment has socialist tendencies, although these have wavered slightly in the last couple decades, and private industry has been allowed.

Franberry has 6 major parties: the Franberrian People's Party, the Franberrian Conservative Union, the Workers Coalition, Earth Party of Franberry and the United Franberrian Alliance.

There are many minor parties, although none count with enough support to make any sort of impact at the national level.

Economy

The Franberrian economy is strong and growing at unprecedented rates. Franberry has taken a more agressive stance in the international economy since legalizing private industry, and has made headway into the international market.

Goverment owned companies, operated as if they were private, investing goverment money in only a few times of dire need, have and are major players in the Havenite and Franberrian economies.

Education

Education is one of Franberry's biggest priorities. Education is free and mandatory at the Basic, Primary and Secondary levels. Optional education is offered after the Secondary level, and is also provided at no cost by the goverment. Franberry maintains a high standart of quality among its educational staff, equipement and other education-related things. Females are only educated during the Basic and Primary levels, after, they attend Practical School, were they engage in learning woman-like activities

Basic Education

Age of students: 3-5 years
This is the first education where young Franberrians learn basic, nessesary skills. Such as, reading, writing, verbal communication and positive interaction. Enrollement is mandatory, starting at the year in wich the student turns 3, and ending at the year when the student turns 5. Exceptions can be made. It is impossible to fail Basic Education, and all children move into Primary Education the year they turn 6.

Primary Education

Age of students: 6-14 years
Once Basic Education is completed, students graduate into Primary School. It consists of grades 1 through 6. During Primary Education they shall improve on their reading and writing. They shall also beign studiying the subjects of: Social Studies, Math, Pratical Science, Languages (includes Literary Studies), Arts and Physical Education. Primary school forms an excellent base for Secondary School. Enrollment is mandatory.

Secondary education

Age of students: 15-18 years
Students move into Secondary School once they comple the 8^th grade. In stages 9 - 12, they will speciallize in certain subjets. Enrollment is mandatory

Post-secondary education is optional, although greatly encouraged. Students can choose to study in almost every subject at the thousands of universities across the country.

Practical School

Age of students: 15-19 years
Female only schools, were all girls are sent to learn woman-like activities. Here, they shall turn from a teenager into an adult.

Justice and Law

Franberrian law is not only strict, but enforced effectively. Boasting one of the greatest police forces in Haven, and one of the largest (per-capita), Franberry stands at the foreground of prevention, detection, and extermination of crime.

Franberry has removed most of its death-penalty punishment, and it is only applied to a small number of cases, mostly military. The Franberrian Justice system is based on prevention, and failing that, detection and extermination of crime. Progressive policies in education and influence in society in general have brought the crime rates to nearly 0%. The large, well equipped, and well trained police force, along with strategic placement of discrete cameras (which are being removed slowly), detects and stops crime when it happens. The criminals are then processed to the prision system, "low" criminals are put into rehabilitaion centers, while "high" crimminals are taken to work camps. Both types crimminals are studied heavily by physcologists to find the root of their evil actions, and to hopefully eradicate it from society. Once their term is up, and if it has been approved that they have been rehabilitated properly, they are released back into society, although the police does keep tabs on them.

• Under 10 grams: min. 20 months
• Break and Enter: min. 16 months (if armed min.10 years)
• Petty Theft: min. 1 year (if armed min.10 years)

Military

Franberry boasts a high-tech and powerful military, the society is massively militirized. A 2 year cumpulsory military service term has to be started at age 18 (although it can be pushed back up to 22, these exceptions mostly have to do with education). Conscripts are not part of the FAF, but rather, the Civil Defense Force.

The total personnel in the Franberrian Armed Forces(FAF) is 8 million.

502 million memebres can be called up if nessesary (although this would cripple the economy)

The FAF is made up of 5 branches:

The Black Guard: The very elite of the Franberrian Armed Forces, whos duty is to protect the Emperor at all costs. The Guard contains: Army Units (The Ground Guard;)Air Force units (The Air Guard); and Naval Units (the Naval Guard). It employs 1 million men in total.

The Peoples' Army of Franberry: The biggest part of the FAF, has 4 million volunteers.

The Air Force of Franberry: The air force, like the Black Guard, is a volunteer-only organization, which currently has 1 million men in uniform.

The Navy of Franberry: Currently, it has 2 personnel.

Space Command: Mostly in the research, exploration and experimentation role. Franberry has a small amount of satelite weapons in space, some which contain nuclear warheads.

The Special Operation Command: The SOC deals with spec. ops. and experimentary units.

The Civil Defense Force Is a completely different organ. This is were conscripts are trained, and in times of need, the people would be called up and serve in CDF units.

Culture

Franberry has a very rich and ancient culture. Through hundreds of years the culture was refined.

Franberry boasts an excellent culture.

Music flows everywere. Patriotic, military, folk and classical mussic are most often played by radio stations

Haddicapped people are regarded as normal members of society.

Prostitution is banned and the goveremnt has stepped up its efforts to outlaw pornography
