The Frank Party was Pantocratoria's first formally organised political party, having its origins in the informal Frank faction which existed in the Pantocratorian Imperial Parliament since the reign of Emperor Manuel V Comnenus, called Manuel the Frank. It supported the radical modernisation of Pantocratoria through adopting Western European customs, practices, institutions and technology, a process called Francophication, a term initially coined by conservative Greek-speaking Pantocratorians opposed to such reforms. More Imperial Chancellors have belonged to the Frank Party than any other political party or faction in the history of Pantocratoria, with nine of its leaders assuming that office a total of thirteen times between them.
