Friendly Alienways is the largest air travel company in the whole Alliance. It is the sole air travel company in Friendly Aliens which means it boasts a monopoly over the whole Friendly Alien market but like all of the other few monopoly's in Friendly Aliens they are heavily monitored by the government to make sure their prices are fair and competitive to foreign flight operators.
Since the 50s (only a decade after Planetfall), with the help of government funding, Friendly Alienways has been in charge of all Air Technology research in Friendly Aliens. They are responsible for creating almost all the air technology found in the country military or otherwise and is responsible for most of the long distance travel in the country.
Friendly Aliens took to air travel so quickly in the fifties because they depended on its ability to cover great distances in a small time. Friendly Aliens being founded in natural and unmolested terrain had great difficulty in moving people and freight between the Super Cities. Therefore using aircraft came naturally and they had a distinct advantage using salvaged technology from the Starsearcher. Friendly Alienways began to rise after many citizens started to offer to pay national run freight and passenger services a premium to take them to other countries found in the Alliance and otherwise unvisited domestic locations, all of this started to put pressure on the young fragile government situated in Planetfall.
With the situation becoming more and more desperate and with more pressure falling on the government to supply this increasing demand BazZeRg decided to consolidate all governmental Airtravel concerns into a privatised organisation. The whole of the Public Airtravel department in the Friendly Alien government splintered off to form a company dubbed Friendly Alienways, (a name taken from its first passengers during nationalisation). BazZeRg put Trigon Frewing in charge of the new enterprise and told him to make it a company the people and the state can be proud of. Soon after this all air services in Friendly Aliens came under the charge of Friendly Alienways, Friendly Aliens enjoyed a small tax cut for losing this public service but the government kept back a few billion Zogs in tax to pay for Friendly Alienways to get on its feet.
After a few years Friendly Alienways made thousands of new passenger and fright planes and trained many new pilots and staff. By this time Friendly Alienways finally managed to keep up with the considerable demand for fast airtravel. BazZeRg thought it was wise at this time to set in stone the complicated objectives of the company. On May 7th 1957 BazZeRg and Trigon Frewing met to write up the company's first and only mission statement.
It declared that Friendly Alienways was to be a company of the people and the state; it will never willing overcharge any of its customers and it will always strive to develop itself from the inside and always be of the best quality at no premium cost. The mission statement also declared the company will always care for the fragile environment that they now live (keeping in line with the entire Friendly Alien ethic) and will make sure they never cut corners for the sake of the environment. With this statement BazZeRg promised that Friendly Alienways will always receive government funding, help from any of its research institutes and a no competition from within the country and as a token of good faith Trigon Frewing promised at least an 80% reinvestment of all revenue in the company per annum for as long as the comapny still is in operation.
After the signing of this mission statement Friendly Alienways continued to grow, with a considerable amount of money and labour to spare Friendly Alienways had enough to invest into serious research and development. Initially the company invested into the FANRI to upgrade their flight and avionics technology but then after a few more years Friendly Alienways was large enough create its own research and development centre. This created thousands of jobs and with the help of FANRI, FABS, Friendly Meds, Milagro Miltech, Xenos Omniworks and the Aliens own innate desire to research and explore the unknown this created the fabled boom in demand for citizens with scientific backrounds and the Golden Age in research and development that hasn't even finished in Friendly Aliens to this day.
Friendly Alienways took over the FANRI's R&D into flight technology after this point and have been in charge of it ever since. Their most important discovery to this date must still be the Matter Compression Engine which relieved the air travel industry in the country almost entirely of its need for fossil fuels, which were both expensive to the environment and on the people to find and use. In the early 60s the company finally took over the responsibility of researching, developing and manufacturing the nations military aircraft and helped Milagro Miltech in its development of missile and space technology.
From then Friendly Alienways has just grown and grown, on September 14th 1977 Friendly Alienways finished building Terminal 20 in Planetfall International (PFI) making it the largest airport in the entire Alliance and with PFI getting bigger and bigger since that time to keep up with demand, PFI has been the largest airport in the Alliance since.
Friendly Alienways boasts the most comprehensive list of possible destinations. Friendly Alienways promises there is no where in the entire Alliance that they cannot take you, they even have very rare flights into old warzones and politically fragile areas, it may take you a while and it may be risky but they will get you there. Friendly Alienway is also unique in that it has headquarters in other Alliance countries and is able to take you to and from countries not even going near Friendly Aliens, for example there are flights from Super Roma's Sparta to Roudland's Roston or even Jihad Allah's Jahalabad to Kegmenistan's St Dmitri City.
Also Friendly Alienways sells the Friendly Alien "Jamas" (FAS-SPC range) and "Bees" (FAS-LPFC range) these are available for personal use by citizens and enterprise use by 'Transporters' (Taxi Driver-F.A Slang), 'Shifters' (Freight Movers-F.A Slang) and farmers. Also they are bought frequently (at a discount) by the governmental agency's like the police to be converted for their own use.
Friendly Alienways is now a very large and well established corporation with the support if its employees, customers and the government it is still comfortably tied too. It still looks to constantly redevelop itself from within to make itself more and more efficient and more advanced and currently it seeks to spread its name further into the Alliance but with big competition from other nations it's task will not be an easy one.
