Garamond is one of the easiest cities in the region to get to and from. Visitors can choose from the ten high-speed rail links, thirty-two freeways and the newly opened, state of the art Garamond International Airport, which is the largest in the region in terms of passenger movements, takeoffs and landings as well as size. AirTypo, the flag carrier and largest airline in the region, bases its hub there. Some domestic routes funnel into Garamond-Myriad Airport, which is to the north of the city. The TRTS provides links to several cities in Typophiles, and from there on to a hundred smaller cities. The rail service also serves select foreign capitals as well.

Garamond is the largest city in Typophiles as well as its economic and political capital. Founded almost three hundred years ago, it is today arguably the most important hub for commerce, transportation, and politics in the Federation of Allied Nations. The city and its suburbs have a total of almost forty million people, living in what is referred to as the Inland Empire.

Garamond is a beautiful city with many freeways, skyscrapers and plant life, and is cut in half by the Garamond River. Because of the river, there are two ‘downtowns’ - a North Side and a South Side. The city is connected to the world by the largest international airport in the region, over thirty freeways and ten high-speed rail links. It was and continues to be a liberally progressive, safe city, with low crime rates and superior infrastructure.

Early History

Garamond was settled around 1724 by French explorers, who called it Garamonde. The settlement’s ideal location allowed it to flourish, and it soon became the largest settlement on the island of Typophiles. It attracted the attention of the British, who besieged the town in November of 1768 in order to gain control of it. The French, however, continued to occupy the village by using an elaborate network of underground tunnels. But after these tunnels were discovered by the British, the French soon surrendered. The British now occupied the city, renaming it Garamond and signing the Treaty of Garamond with the French in March 1769.

Getting There
