General Gavin G. Farlain is a decorated general of the Armed Republic of Costa Bravo's Ground Forces, the basic Army branch of that country's complexly-structured military. He fought as a Major in the Eugenics War, and quickly gained ranks, fighting at Tortuga and participating in holding the defensive line at the Janeiro Canal for twenty-eight days before the eventual Dakkland breakthrough. He was awarded the Medal of Honor and Medal of Valor after the war, for his role in defeating Dakkland at Tortuga: leading a bayonet charge which disrupted a battalion of entrenched Dakkland soldiers, along with the prevention of Dakkland soldiers from destroying the Citadel. He was promoted to General shortly thereafter.

General Farlain played a major role in the 2006 war with the Taschist Axis, attacking the advancing Taschist frontline and forming a salient that cut off thousands of enemy troops from supplies, resulting in a mass withdrawal of Taschist soldiers southwards. Farlain was due to participate in the escalating conflict in Bagnoles, but his AC-130 was hit with flak, and he was subsequently injured and evacuated. He lost his right leg. His division continued on to Bagnoles, which suffered a catastrophic nuclear meltdown later that day. Farlain's entire division was killed in the blast.

He has since written a book on the subject, titled Disaster at Bagnoles.

His military designation prior to the Bagnoles blast was: VII Corps, 5th Airborne Division, IX Brigade, 2nd Regiment, 1st Battalion, Charlie Company, I Platoon
