Ghargonians

Ghargonians are a race of reptilian aliens originating on Ghargonia Prime, some 50,000 lightyears away from Sol. They are the dominant race on the planet, having enslaved the Gerash and driven away the Grishnaki, the other two sentient species that evolved there.

On average, Ghargonians are 7-8 foot tall, and twice as strong as the strongest human. They are carnivorous, using sharp claws and teeth to eat mostly raw flesh. They do not require a meal more than two to three times per week.

As reptiles, Ghargonians are not big fans of the cold. Temperatures that may be comfortable for some humans may be dangerously low for a Ghargonian. In cold environments they need to take a 'warm-up' period before engaging in activities.

Ghargonians live, on average, 200 years. This is only if they survive that long in their hostile environment. The species has relatively few genetic diseases, due to them leaving disabled or ill offspring to die.

Ghargonians are visually distinctive creatures. They usually have green, scaled skin with occasional brown mottling effects; bright yellow or orange eyes on the sides of their head; a long, powerful snout lined with curved-back teeth; and they are quite large and well-built, due to the nature of their society. Females are usually even larger than their male counterparts, with distinctive tan-brown mottling on the sides of their head and snout.
