The Ghasian Autonomous Region, or Ghasa is an autonomous territory of The Revolutionary Republic of Wazistan. The territory makes up less than 1% of the total population of the nation. The territory's Capital is the City of Rafa.

Geography

Ghasa is located in Eastern Wazistan with 40% of the region sitting in the Gagazet Mountains.

Politics

The Ghasa Provisional Authority was establish in Ghasa in early 2005 after the end of the Ghasian Civil War. The Ghasian Provisional Authority consist of 3 branchs: Executive, Legislative, Judicial.

Executive Branch

The Executive Branch of the GPA is headed by a President, who is elected by the Ghasian Parliament for a three year term. Under the Basic Law of the GPA, the Presidency is only ceremonial post with real Executive powers in the hands of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The Prime Minister is appointed by the President, and is normally the leader of the largest party in the Parliament. Bylaw, the Prime Minister serves as Chair of the Cabinet, which is the center body of the executive branch.

Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch of the GPA is headed by the Ghasian Parliament, a unicameral legislature composed of 161 members. The Ghasian Parliament is the central body of the GPA. It makes the laws that govern the territory and also can vote of the Prime Minister and Government with a vote of Confidence.

The Parliament also has the power to impeach the President of the GPA and other senior executive officials who do not belong to the Cabinet. The Parliament is seated in Rafa.

As of May 5th, the Ghasian Nationalist Movement of President Ghazal Farwat holds the majority in the Parliament with 72 seats.

Judicial Branch

The Judicial Branch of the GPA is headed by the Superior Court of Ghasa, which is composed of 9 Justices appointed by the President of the recommendations of the Prime Minister. The Court as the power to declare acts by Parliament and Cabinet unconstitutional.

The Court also serves as the final Court of Appeals.

Occupation Controversy.

Under an agreement signed by Wazi President Kamal Jalil and then-Ghasian President Mummar Oman, the Wazi Military reserves thhe right to deploy troops into the territory in the event violences starts up again. Many Ghasians oppose the agreement and has called on the Ghasian Parliament to have a second vote to defeat it.

In response, the Wazi Parliament passed an emergency bill declaring Wazistan has the right to Occupy Ghasa if violence started up again.

The topic continues to draw critics from human rights groups and other organizations.
