Warhead

The warhead on the Globe missile is one of the most technologically sophisticated warheads on any ICBM in the world. The warhead's material is made up of 239Pt and is "salted" with 238U and 237Np. The warhead is Fusion detonated, and has a very long shelf life.

The warhead produces gamma and alpha radiation upon detonation. It also produces neutron radiation, by the way of free fast neutrons. The "salted" portion of the warhead helps to spread highly radioactive fallout over a vast area, increasing background radiation levels by up to 10 to 15 times the average. In certain situations, the 238U and the 237Np can be replaced with 60Co.
