Goldbach und Sankt Bonifaz is a resort town in Baranxtu, and its only major Germanophone settlement.
In 1960, the formerly independent but already merging towns of Goldbach and Sankt Bonifaz were officially united to form the town of Goldbach und Sankt Bonifaz.
Goldbach was named after the small gold deposits found in a nearby stream (which however ultimately were not rich enough to result in a gold rush), Sankt Bonifaz got its name from a chapel dedicated to Saint Boniface.
