Golden Skies City
Nation: Vuhifellian Federation
Function: Provincial capital, HQ of the Central Armies
Population: 300 Million
Leader: Mayor Jason Richter

Golden Skies City has seen itself been used for a variety of causes since it was founded in 1944. Among which, it served as the provincial judicial center for the province of Valgan, until the year 1972, when it became the provincial capital. In 1992, the Mega-Corporation 'Foxtecha' was founded, and from 1992-2073, it served as the center of all business in the Federation, every major corporation had its nerve center in Golden Skies City. After the Vuhi-Kazach War ended, most corporations were shut down and their leaders convicted of treason for trading with the enemy, thus, today, Golden Skies City has only one remaining district where the skyscrapers still gleam, the rest of the city was incorporated into the 'lower slums'.

Although Golden Skies City itself was only founded in 1944, it was the result of the union of several other cities, that are now districts in Golden Skies City.

The City of Faturo

Before Golden Skies City was born, another city occupied its location; that city was Faturo. Faturo's location is now covered by the supertall glass skyscrapers of the financial district, however, before this, it was known as the 'Jewel of the Plains'.

Faturo sat in the center of what is known as the 'Tanager Basin', a 700 km wide bowl in the center of the continent, at its deepest, the Tanager Basin reaches almost 560 meters below sea level. Not only this, but the entire basin was devoid of any valuable materials for the industrial sector, but because you needed to pass through the basin on your way to the west coast via rail, a city in the center would be a valuable asset.

Faturo is known as the 'Jewel of the Plains' because of the fact that, although the soil in most of the Tanager Basin is very poor and unsuitable for crops, the banks of the Fang, Creskari, and LiVille Rivers were all very rich in silt and nutrients. Faturo just happened to be lucky enough to be built at the exact location where the Fang and Creskari Rivers converge to form the LiVille.

Districts

Before the Vuhi-Kazach War ended, there were several hundred districts within Golden Skies City, each arranged by Quadrant. (Quadrant I-Districts; Quadrant II-Wards; Quadrant III-Sectors; Quadrant IV-Sections). However, nowadays, there are only four main districts in the entire 3000 sq km city.

Metropolitan District

This is the only district that has remained wealthy and intact from the war. It retains all corporations, skyscrapers, and high-rise apartments as it did before the war ended. It's education system is grand. Although Golden Skies City encompasses four districts, only the Metropolitan District is ever represented in government or on the news.

Outer Slums

The most fortunate of the slum districts. This is the buffer zone between the Metropolitan Districtand the Inner Slums. Although it is considered important to the city, most buildings are abandoned, and the cities main use for it is for use as a communications relay.

Inner Slums

The Inner Slums are the buffer zone between the Outer Slums and the Greater Slums. Most buildings in this zone have either been abandoned, or sacked by the poor of the city. Some former corporate high-rises are now being used as high-rise slum apartments. While some city services are known to exist this far (e.g. the GSubway), most services, such as police coverage and healthcare, are known to be completely void at this point; however, education by the GSC-Education Department is still operational. Also, Golden Skies International Airport still remains in its original form, despite being located within the Inner Slums, this may be because of the huge military presence in and around the airport.

Greater Slums

This is the center of the slums zone. No more city services are available beyond at this point (even education and GSubway). The streets are paved, but cluttered with waste and refuse. All buildings are either ruined, or are inhabited by the dregs of the city (it should be noted that, from the air, the roofs of some buildings have been seen to have cooking stoves or other equipment atop them). There is an extensive alleyway system, that bypasses most streets, and all streets and alleyways eventually make their way to the center of the Greater Slums - the Bazaar.

In the Bazaar - the center of the Greater Slums - there seems to be infinite numbers of open air markets, as well as indoor bazaars housed inside old government buildings. Cart vendors are also seen around. Although the Federation lays claim to the Greater Slums of Golden Skies City, the people who live there have an entirely different lifestyle, culture, currency, and standard of living than anywhere else on the continent. Thus, the Greater Slums of Golden Skies City can be considered a foreign country (if one were to compare the Greater Slums to the Federation).
