The Armed Republic of Grey Militia (ARGM) is a federal republic of 10 states located in southern California.

Grey Militia is bordered by the United States in the north (California) and east (Nevada, Arizona), by Mexico in the south, and by the Pacific Ocean in the west.

The ARGM's official founding date is November 24, 1956 when leading vigilante groups from the ten then-counties that now comprise the ARGM united to help keep order. Since the early 1990s, Grey Militia has become the leading producer of small arms in North America.

History

The ARGM's official founding date is November 24, 1956 when leading vigilante groups from the ten then-counties that now comprise the ARGM united to help keep order.

The need for this arose with the U.S.'s intervention against Soviet troops in the 1956 Hungary Crisis. This led to a small exchange (10-25 warheads per side) which led to a breakdown in authority in the United States. The military and other emergency forces were quickly overwhelmed and vigilante organizations quickly set up.

The center of this movement was in southern California and on November 17 leaders from the ten militias in ten counties met together to discuss an alliance. During the meetings the American military began targeting militias blaming them for the anarchy. In light of this the ten delegates decided to form themselves into a single country apart from the United States.

This was allowed to happen the U.S. government because it believed that there were more pressing concerns and largely saw the secession as a chance to cut costs. Most at the time believed that the new nation would fail and ask to be taken back into the Union within a month.

The delegates decided to name the new super-militia "Grey Militia" and that became the name of the nation. The constitution that the people of Grey Militia voted to adopt was the pre-war United States constitution with a few added amendments. However, the nation did remain under marshall law until March 1, 1959.

The next three decades are known as the Reconstruction era of ARGM history when infrastructure was rebuilt and people tried to return to their normal lives.

Historians generally define the end of Reconstruction as 1991 when the National Militia finally had the resources to sell off their surplus. The demand for the high quality military arms around the world was huge. The profits made from this venture prompted the military to continue the practice and this is seen as a key factor of driving the ARGM out of economic recession.

Grey Militia has seen no major wars in its lifetime though it has had to deal with some attacks by pro-United States guerillas. One reason the United States has yet to attempt to annex the ARGM is because of the nation's unique guerilla style defense plan.
