Grimsby Thursday FC is a football (soccer) club within the Isselmere-Nieland Football Association (INFA)'s First Division. The club's grounds are at Maccleuch Park, Havermere Road, Grimsby Downs, Anguist, Isselmere-Nieland, where they have been since 1946. The club's popular name is "The Hammers", which is based on the club's badge representing Thor's hammer Mjolnir impaling a saltire of crossed lightning bolts.
Grimsby Thursday gains its name from having to play on Thursday so that the common pitch at Union Park in Grimsby Downs would be free for the Grimsby Athletic Association RFC to play on Saturday. Since Thursday's departure from Union Park, the club has remained in the top flight (the First Division) and has won the league six times running and the INFA Cup three times in the past seven years. Grimsby Thursday has yet to qualify for the UEFA Cup or the Champions League.
