Gull Flag Square, directly north of Jameston Place in Ianapalis, is the cultural center of the Iansislean capital. During the days of the Grand Empire of the Shield, the area was known as Unity Square, to commemorate the joining of the Seven Kingdoms of the Shield into the Empire, and was filled with statues of the High Kings and Queens of the Shield, as well as work from all of Iansisle's greatest artists.

After the Gull Flag Revolution, most of the statues were torn down. There have been several proposals in the National Assembly for how to fill the newly empty spaces, but the war with Effit has nullified most of these. Currently, the buildings surrounding the Square - which include such Ianapalis landmarks as St Patrick's Cathedral and the International Tower, are draped in the banner of the Revolution. A large gallows has been erected, at the command of Director of War Lawrence Madders, in the center of the Square and is used to publicly execute the reactionary traitors within the military, such as former Field Marshal Sir Gregory Pennyman.
