Gustav Harster (June 6, 1897 - December 12, 1954) was the Imperial Emperor of the Baltan Empire from 1932 until 1947. Before his reign as the Imperial Emperor, he was the leader of the European Fascist Party, a political group which united several nations under fascist doctrine, brutal technique, and passionate and emotionally stirring oration.

Harster gained power after the European Fascist Party won majorities in several nations, all of which quickly melded under fascist rule. Declaring himself as ultimate authority, he quickly began seizing lands after massive military and economic buildup, sparking the Baltan War, which quickly drew in Belarum, the Soviet Union, and Triera. Harster sought total and complete domination of the European Union in order to create a New World Order. Ultimately, Harster would fail in his quest for world domination, but the mark he left on the EU will likely remain the darkest in it's history.

Early Years

Childhood

Gustav Harster was born on June 6, 1897, in Stavianze, a small town in northwestern Natalion. Gustav was the son of a laborer and a housewife, and from his earliest years was beaten by his father on a regular basis. When Gustav turned eight years old, his mother stabbed his father to death and soon after committed suicide. A confused and heartbroken Gustav would be shipped from family member to family member until finally settling with a wealthy uncle.

Gustav's uncle Derbent would treat the boy decently, but was ill-equipped to deal with Gustav's emotional disturbances, which grew more apparent as time passed. While Gustav was still young, he began attempts to court Orsha Sibenka, the daughter of a local factory owner. Schoolmates of Gustav have been reported as saying that Orsha would string the impressionable Gustav along, only to crush his spirits time and again. Gustav would snap when he learned of Orsha's bisexuality. Because of her sexual orientation, she would be cast out of her aristocratic home and be forced to live on the streets of Stavianze. On November 28, 1913, Orsha was found dead in an alleyway behind a warehouse. It has been rumored that Gustav killed her.

Gustav would excell in his studies in primary and secondary school, and would achieve a scholarship to one of Natalion's most exclusive universities.

Early Adulthood

After Orsha's outing, Gustav became outspokenly against homosexuality and bisexuality, probably because of his personal experiences with Sibenka. Harster would debate anyone willing to indulge him on the matter, and his harsh stance against what he termed "undesirables" would grow into support for strict moral and social conservatism.
