Hammerian, or Ķŷrestŏkjin, is the native language of the Interplanetary Space Empire of Foe Hammer. The general language branches off into two very different dialects, Traditional Hammerian (Ķŷrestŏkjin Nyzêki) and Modern Hammerian (Ķŷrestŏkjin Ājzêki). Both dialects of Hammerian differ slightly in grammar, with colossal differences in heirarchy - Titles of nobility and status are not as common in Modern Hammerian, making it what some people consider "unofficial" or "disrespectful".

Grammar

Hammerian is largely based upon German, with few strong influences from the English language. A majority of the language is inflected, with most verbs of both past and present tense preceded by a modifier.

Vocabulary

Contextual use of words varies greatly, and in some cases, mastery of the Hammerian language can take a lifetime due to the many implications of certain words. For instance, the word Bêrzkê can be applied to seventeen different definitions. Its publically accepted and universally accepted definition is "containment".

Word Context

The Hammerian language is known for the complexity of vocabulary. Native-speaking Hammerians usually have less of a challenge when determining context. Listed below are examples of grammar in cases of "context controversy".

  • When translated into English, "Ķŷrestŏkjin íkaza shutzátyá kzek" means, quite literally, "Hammerian is a fun language." Where "kzek" means both "language" and "wall", one could easily mistake this sentence as "Hammerian is a fun wall." However, the placement of the subject (Ķŷrestŏkjin) prior to the adjective (ikaza, "fun") determines the meaning of the subject complement.

Longest Hammerian Word

The longest recognized word in the Hammerian Language is "Ærekyetzáteikátyutzáityoryunyèkistènitzká." It is defined in English as "One who willingly participates in unlawful acts on a government vessel."
