Hasan Ahmed Muhammad is the current Premier of Hallad, elected in 2004. He is quite a populist amoung the Halladi people, bringing sweeping advances in the economy and Hallad's Pan-Arabist ideals. He's also known for cleaning out the Halladi government of inefficient bureaucracy. He is also Hallad's youngest Premier, and is quite enthusiastic about his work.
Early Life
Hasan grew up in Baghdad, Hallad. He was the son a factory worker, Ahmed Sayid Muhammad, and nurse, Fadwa Hessa Muhammad. His father had high hopes for his son, after schooling showed he was of above average intelligence. Though he was strict because of this, Hasan says it was for the better. He considers his parents strictness to be the reason for his success at such a young age. Hasan joined the Halladi Red Army when he was sixteen, and was entered into an officers program. He attained the rank of Captain, though he never saw any combat outside of wargames. He later went on to study at the University of Riyadh, in the capital of the Republic. There he studied law and politics, already being a member of the Halladi Socialist Party. Muhammad would eventually go on to major in Labour Law, at the Baghdad School of Law, however his first degrees were in Economic Theory and Politcal Science.
Political Career
Muhammad went on to work for the Halladi Socialist Party, and was an active member in Baghdad and throughout the region of Iraq in the privince of Ryydra. He attended all of the Party Congress's, organized events and rallys, and was a spokesman for the HSP in Baghdad. In 1996, he was elected as a local Regulation Committee leader -- private organizations which help regulate the economy. This was his first major position, although it was short lived. He stepped down of chairman of the committee in order to run for a position of the Baghdad City Council, which he won with overwhelming support. Two years later he ran for a position of even greater importance -- a Reyid (from Ryydra) representative in the Halladi Parliament, the National Workers' Assembly.
The young and charismatic Muhammad travelled around Iraq, getting local support. He had a difficult elections ahead of him, and he was the underdog. Facing him was a number of incumbent politicians from various political parties. In particular was Representative Abdul-Azim Hussein, a member of the Collectivist Party, who was the representative from Baghdad. In a close election he won a seat in the National Workers' Assembly by only six votes.
His stay in parliament was long, until 2004. In that time he became a major player in the Halladi Socialist Party, and the National Workers' Assembly. He was known for his belief in the Halladi ideals, his support of cultural revolution, and his strong opposition to capitalism. He soon became the protege of Nader Ahmen Hashim, the Premier from 2000-2004. He was the natural choice for the next Socialist candidate for Premier, and due to his young, charismatic nature, he easily won the title.
