History of Ceorana

The History of Ceorana is fairly complex, rife with convergences and divergences, mainly due to the influence of fractal reality in determining the course of events. At some point between 300 CE and 1000 CE, the Ceoranan reality "spliced" into two time-space layers, causing the same setting to engage in two completely separate timelines, now referred to as "Modes" I and II. Previously, Mode I was the only one that interacted with the outside world, as Mode II was not yet integrated, and it was not known the Mode II had even existed. The two modes integrated after the collapse of government in Mode I around 2030, which is when the two modes integrated to form one chain of Ceoranan history. Mode II is now considered the mode with the most influence on current Ceoranan social structures, because it was the one that was not in turmoil at the time the two modes converged.

Mode I

Settlement (c. 1000 CE - c. 1940)

Mode I began with Scandinavian settlers arriving on the shores of Ceorana at a date estimated to be around 1000 CE. These settlers had been sailing in the real world, but a split in fractal reality spliced them through fractal reality to end up on Ceorana's "layer". Of course, they had no knowledge that they had been split off. Previous to that date, there were no known inhabitants of Ceorana, although it is poissible that they existed but were killed of by disease, famine, or other calamity. In any case, the settlers splintered off into many different tribes due to internal strife and lost most memory of each other, developing their own customs. The Kolatch tribe was the largest of these, and continues to produce Kolatch gouda cheese.

Establishment (c. 1940 - 1960)

The tribes had originally regained contact with each other in at latest the seventeenth century, but relations were limited to light trading. It wasn't until 1940 that the tribes really began to establish strong relations in what would become known as the First Convergence, alluding to the vast number of divergences and convergences in Ceoranan history. In the 1959, after much contact with the tribes, the first government was set up by those who were ready to meet up and form a single sovereign nation. (This excluded the most tribal members of the tribes, who remained part of the separate tribes, although these remain a tiny minority today.) The government relied on the principles of communism, which was extremely popular among the people because most of the tribes had stressed collective ownership. It was during this time period that much of Ceorana's public transportation, which still operates and is a boon to the economy of Ceorana, was set up due to the large amount of government money.

Activity and Collapse (1960 - 2030)

Around this time, Ceorana became very active in its region, Unification and then Isles of a Better World. These politics were generally good, and domestic advances were made, such as the formation of the Ceorana Herald in 1961 and then the New Boston Times in 1964. But as the end of this period approached, the Isles entered a cold war between Ceorana and Murkadia on one side and Harrissy and Northern Sushi on the other, leading to intense relations outside of the nation. This meant that there was great public worry and scrutiny. Unfortunately for the Executive Council that led the socialist regime, the public scrutiny became directed internally, which led to the ousting of the Council when it was found they were corrupt. This was the beginning of the "Dark Ages of Ceorana", which were a period of anarchy lasting only two years. It was also the end of the separation of Mode I. It was originally believed that the reform was created based on the ideas of a few people, but later learned it was the influence of Mode II.

Mode II

Settlement and Establishment (2000 - 2005)

Unlike Mode I, Mode II originated in the United States, at a scientific convention. Although most of the people at the convention were American, there were also citizens of other real world nations present. As in Mode I, the entire convention was spliced off of real life and into Ceorana. This was indeed in a splice of the nation of Ceorana, so they had no contact with the citizens in Mode I. The new settlers were initially confused, but figured the situation out pretty quickly, and soon formed a government similar to that of the United States. It pays to note that this group was of very bright people as well as their families, so there was a lot of scientific knowledge in the air, which lead to many inventions that Ceorana still benefits from today.

Activity (2005 - 2030)

Mode II had no foreign relations, because it landed on Ceorana in a plane where no other nations resided. However, it was in this mode that the beginning of Ceoranan fractal reality theory began to develop, which led to the understanding of Ceorana's history. This was originally conceived by a physicist whose name has since been lost, although it is known that he was once a professor at the University of Ceorana.

The Integration

Conveniently for Mode I, the modes converged at a perfect time, in August of 2033. As Mode I was thrown into turmoil, the two modes rejoined each other, mixing the people and idea of the two modes. This meant that the Mode II culture took center stage as many people from Mode II, who were less flustered by the collapse, stepped up and set up a new government, which strongly resembled Mode II's old one. When the Mode I society and infrastructure recovered and a few years had passed, the nation was mostly homogeneous, with the mode lines quickly blurring.

Post-Integration

Soon after the Integration, Ceorana moved to the International Democratic Union. It was at this point in its history where it stepped onto a larger world stage. In May 2037 it passed United Nations Resolution #156: UN Patent Law, and later that month it was elected delegate of the International Democratic Union. The nation is currently heavily involved in UN affairs and frequents the UN Forum. In July 2045 it passed another UN resolution, UN Copyright Convention.

Territorial change

In 2049, Ceorana experienced a disaster that forced it to move its entire territory. After heavy flooding in New Boston that drowned the city and a plane crash into a nuclear reactor, most of Northern Ceorana was filled with radiation and unfit for habitation. This forced many of the citizens to relocate to new territory claimed by the Ceoranan government in what used to be the nation of Yuunli. New towns and provinces were established, and construction had reached a habitable level by 2052.
