The Founding of Havvy

Nicholas Jurkin, a Wealthy Man

Born only twenty years before Havvy was founded, Travis Jurkin lived in an unnamed country. Back in 1910, many countries were very imperialistic, and were taking any land they could get their hands on.

Nicholas Jurkin didn't really care about that. He inherited $10 million zomanias (which at the time are worth $130,482,937 [[Zomania}zomanias]] due to inflation). He decided to live in his country, until one day a civil war broke out. He bought a ship, and decided that while there is fighting going on, he would take his family on a traveling experience.

This experience was either going to be by plane or by boat. They choose boat because they expected that the travels were going to last awhile. They were right. The civil war in there country destroyed almost any wealthy man's life, and the Jurkins were lucky to escape it.

They ended up traveling for four years, before they found a large island. They went around it, and found more of them, including one with a volcano. The islands seemed to be uninhabited except for the island with the volcano. It had some natives on it, but they could not speak English.

Nicholas Jurkin decided to buy the islands. He saw them as a paradise, and after 2 years, another group of people found it. They wanted it for business ventures, and thought they found it first. When the Jurkins came back to the islands, they noticed that it was a city on it, and that people were cutting down forests.

Secession

This was legal for some odd reason. The contract says they bought the land, and as long as nobody builds anything below it, they are officially allowed to do that.

Nicholas Jurkin was mad. He didn't want people on his islands like that. He went to his country, and demanded to be seceded from the country. Well, the government did accept, but only after a cash bonus from the Jurkins.

Nicholas Jurkin's Rule

Nicholas' first act as leader of the islands, was to boot out everyone, and say that this was his house. If it wasn't for his parent's, the country would be uninhabited right now.

After a second civil war broke out, Nicholas' parents decided to tell an entire city about a mostly uninhabited island with only one resident. People were tired of the current government, and instead of continuing to challenge it, they decided to ask Nicholas is they could move.

Since it was a small town, and Nicholas knew most the people, he allowed them to move, and since than, the population was small, and grew at a small rate.

Almost immediately, other people wanted to move there. He ended up getting so much mail from people, that he decided, "What the heck? Why not allow people to just come here?"

This was a huge mistake. Over ten million people moved there in the one year before Nicholas decided to make immigration closed. This made them isolationistic. Also, during that year, H.32 people started companies that tried to exploit the natural resources, such as CutYouDown Inc., where it tried to cut down the rain-forests on the island of Deleanti. A bill was automatically passed which made it impossible to log for money.

After that though, people tried to just improve the infrastructure, and everything seemed to be working fine. They just seemed to be without computers.

Nicholas Jurkin's Death

In. H.65, Nicholas died. People went into chaos about what was to happen to the country for the next week. Nobody knew. It was when his child, Travis Justice, read his will.

It laid out a detailed plan for democracy. It was taken into law as soon as possible, and a huge voting was held. Most people never believed they needed to have a vote until the dictator died. He was a nice person, and everyone just liked the fact that they could pretty much do anything they wanted.
