This is the History of Random Kingdom. Part of the Random Kingdom factbook.

Overview of Eras

In Random Kingdom, trends often change dramatically and quickly, usually after wars. The history of Random Kingdom can then be easily split into "eras", and these are shown below. Note: the years given are part of the OOC 2nd birthday timeline reforms, are possibly retconned and possibly conflict with other national timelines.

Early Classical (Oct 2004-Nov 2005)

Random Kingdom was founded in October 2004 by British settlers. RK was founded with a Westminster system government (under Prime Minister Matt Windsor), but this quickly changed into a unique government form. The Random Kingdom became the aggressor of debates and even into war.

Trivia

  • The government changed frequently during the Early Classical Era, from one end of democracy into the other, and is the only era of RK history that actually had frequent legislature elections.
  • The Uncommon Gecko, later Lesser Civerian, was selected as Random Kingdom's national animal.

The War on USN (Nov 2005- Nov 2006)

Known OOCly as a rather n00bish, sloppy godmoded war on RK's part, the USN war (started by Random Kingdom because of "civil rights atrocities) made and broke alliances everywhere. Both sides pulled out of peace talks, and if it were not for the eventual dissolution of the USN, possibly due to another war later in time, RK would still technically be at war.

Due to the continued anger at the USN government of the time, RK attempted to flood the subsequent USN election with pro-opposition propaganda and donations.

Late Classical (Dec 2006- Apr 2016)

Peace prospered and so did Random Kingdom, turning itself around from a land of poverty into a land of prosperity. And so it continued, until the new form of government, the Collective of State Unions, was derailed by right-wing activists, propelling the nation into civil war.

Events

  • Aug 2009 - ICBM attack decimates the capital of Confusion City. The perpetrator is Alexaander, a mutual enemy of the Golden Hills region. New Hope becomes the new capital.
  • Dec 2009 - Natural Civerians (then known as Supergeckos) are engineered, causing a major crisis. They overthrow the RK government for a while.
  • May 2015 - The Unity Festival is held in New Hope to celebrate world peace, harmony and prosperity. It is marred by terrorist scares, rumours and the tail-end of the Civerian invasion.

Trivia

  • This era led Random Kingdom into its first Civil War, and marked the end of Random Kingdom's "everyone welcome" approach as all prominent rightists were exiled after the Civil War.
  • Natural geckoids were first created in the Late Classical Era.

First Civil War (Apr 2016 - Dec 2016)

The attack on the CSU propelled RK into a long civil war which saw the previous government killed off and the nation divide into fragments. To make things worse, a foreign mafia family came in and threatened the sovereignty of the nation when peace resumed.

Modern Era (Jan 2017 - Sep 2032)

After the Civil War, all known rightists were shipped out of the nation and for decades RK was peaceful. A new government system pioneered, the Core, which finally brought democracy down to the laity, and until Random Kingdom heard of atrocities being carried out by the distant empire of Farmina, peace prevailed. RK prepared for war...

Trivia

  • Random Kingdom became a PostModern Tech nation in the Modern Era.
  • The Modern Era is RK's second longest era of peace, stretching between tech levels.

The War on Farmina (Sep 2032 - Nov 2035)

Random Kingdom declared war on the Holy Empire of Farmina on grounds of mass genocide and misuse of weapons of mass destruction. It was promptly rained down on by Farmina and its close ally Wolfish, and was crippled due to regular infrastructure sabotage. The Core ran out of power, and the nation plunged into anarchy. Farmina took over control of the nation, installing a new government. Meanwhile, many RK citizens took their own lives or went underground, razing the nation to the ground as they went. This is known as the Last Stand of Random Kingdom.

Control Era (Nov 2035 - Feb 2045)

After the Farmina War came a period in which Random Kingdom was in effect a vassal of Farmina. A new government was installed, and Victory Point became the capital of RK.

Trivia

  • Random Kingdom had little independance during the Control Era.
  • The government was typical democratic fare. The first, last and only president of RK came to power (and then lost it) in this era, president Meg Herst of the Capitalist Block.
  • RK was known for a while as New Random Kingdom, not to be confused with Neo RK.

The Ascot Exodus Legend

Typically hailed as the greatest event in RK history, but now more mythdom than fact, the Ascot Exodus was supposedly a mass smuggling act, transporting citizens of RK to other lands. It gets its name from Ascot, real name Acoran Smith, who initiated the operation, and is known by many as "RK's martyr" - according to the legend, he was murdered in distant lands by the secret service. For a while, an island northwest of RK called Neo RK was said to be inhabited by these people, but then the government was overthrown in RK, and they returned. The natural civerians became almost extinct here, as they attempted to make a new nation in the island chains. (The civerian population of today is mostly made of synthetic, or Azokashian, civerians created by controlled radiation)

The legend was disproved in the late 21st century when Acoran Smith II was murdered by his father, who also left a confession: he had used the Exodus as a cover for a mass murder. Neo RK was actually used as a mass extermination camp.

Prosperity Era (Mar 2045 - Jun 2160)

Random Kingdom quickly restabilized and briefly rejoined the United Nations, however, the people quickly steered RK out of this. The Representative System became stable and many different Human and Civerian Representatives led Random Kingdom. However, trouble was stirring. The Representatives were dying in mysterious circumstances, and terrorism was reaching an all-time high. After Cornia Eyrie apparently went mad, Salera Bonman-Perita took over, and RK seemed to be in true prosperity again, trade skyrocketing as laws preventing trade to capitalist nations were repealed. RK rejoined the UN in order to stand out in its nation. Things seemed as if they were getting better and better. Until...

Second RK Civil War (Jun 2160 - Jan 2162)

Salera became involved in scandals and riots after apparently turning against the socialist heritage of RK and fanning the flames of capitalism. Eventually, she admitted being more than just a capitalist. She admitted being a part Farminan ancestry (though this may have just been a lie to get closer to the Farminans), and, much worse, being a Control enthusiast (preferring the Farmina-installed government of old). In order to attempt to return RK to the Control Era, she unveiled a militia of mind-controlled RK citizens (her "Blue Army", destroyed the administrative section of Acoria Tower, and flew over to Civeria to attempt to exterminate communists that had created a new state there. Eventually, Civeria became physically blocked from the rest of "Salerite" Random Kingdom, and Nova Boozian and Usea-Jasonian forces entered RK to attempt to bring peace.

The Core

It turned out that Cornia Eyrie and his Civerian counterpart Cipher-Anai III had not died/abdicated, but knew all along of Salera's plot (and played fool/dead to escape her attempts to end their resistance). They managed to activate an experimental AI section of the Core, known as Ankh. They used its intelligence to stall the Blue Army in Civeria whilst they moved to Acoria Tower to both plan an assassination and receive a permanent transmitter (to broadcast a pirate signal to jam the mind control signal used by Salera). Salera, turning eccentric with her absolute power, declared herself Chancellor of Random Kingdom, dyed her hair electric blue, and changed her last name to Hope.

Playoff

The Ankh also underwent a change. Infected with a virus, its personality changed to a manipulating, malevolent rogue AI, playing the Civerians off against the Salerites in a perverse war game to decide control of RK (If the Civerians won, then he promised he would allow them to continue their political system; if they lost, then he would assimilate the entire human and civerian population in RK). To this end, he sent pirate messages to a handful of militia (led by future Chairman Jay Aldria) enticing them to go to Acoria to take Salera's life. At the same time, he trapped Salera in the core laboratories, with several methods of murder ready and waiting if the Civerians changed their mind. He then proceeded to silence Salera, who was arguing with the Core's manifestation on her laptop, by entering her implant and destroying her mind (leaving her permanently unable to communicate with the outside world)

Change of Fortune

The Civerian rogues, helped somewhat by Nova Boozian attempts to reconnect them with Civerian high command (which was imprisoned by the Core to keep the rogues loyal), and also by an intervention by Eyrie, who had been mortally wounded by his own robotic bodyguard (set on him by the Core), decided not to kill Salera, and instead, using a program given by Eyrie, went to Acoria Tower and used it to reinstall the Core. With the Core back on their side, Jay and his men reinstated the former government with a communist twist, proclaiming Jay the first Human Chairman of RK.

Endgame

However, something was still amiss. The robotic bodyguard was now infiltrating Acoria and abducting citizens (in a fashion eerily similar to the Civerian crisis). They were found to be controlled via radio broadcasts by a presence in the lowest levels of Acoria Tower. Jay, ever the practical Chairman, joined a small company comprised of RK militia and Nova-Boozia peacekeepers, and set off to stop the transmissions.

Meanwhile, people on the surface found to their horror that the citizens were being abducted in order to have their brains conditioned for usage in artificial constructs; a "perfect" race. The company were eventually caught and sent to the labs to be conditioned with the rest; Jay, however, was brought to the inner sanctum.

He was shocked to discover that the perpetrator of the robot attacks was none other than Acoran Smith, and that he was Jay's great-uncle (a fact Jay had successfully blocked out of his mind). His modus operandi was to wipe out the human race using a massive amount of sarin, and replace them with his synthetic race, which would be unaffected by the nerve toxin. He reckoned that his "Acoranites" would be more ecological and would live forever in his glory. He would be a god.

In order to deploy the toxin, he revealed the tower's darkest secret; its ability to detach from the rest of Acoria and take off as an aircraft. The tower did just that; however, he was contacted by a lab researcher, stating that his "perfect" race was failing to exist. Cancelling the conditioning of the rest of the company, he quickly changed his plan; to kill off the human race and recreate it with his own genes. Fortunately, Jay managed to free himself (he was stuck to a wall) and shoot Acoran between the eyes.

However, instead of dying or showing pain, Acoran instead revealed that he was not the true Acoran - only a robotic replica - and was charged with carrying out the real, dead, Acoran's revenge against the world. Jay destroyed him and sent an order to descend the tower, but was murdered shortly after by Acoran's guard.

Meanwhile, the tower, acting on Jay's request, managed to lower enough for civilians to board. They quickly cleared the tower of the terrorists, and announced an immediate Chairman election, which was won by Dr. Nathan Atille.
