History
The Federation of Hoffmanamffoh is large, socially progressive nation spread out over a sizeable portion of the North American Midwest founded recently out of the ruins of an epic war fought between the progressive alliance of Republic of Hoffmanikstan and Tanagarian Union against the despotic Dyztopian Empire. Hoffmanamffoh is currently undergoing massive internal immigration and relocation processes, as literally tens of millions of displaced ethnic Hoffmaners are being relocated by the United Nations back into their homeland. As such, the current population of the state is unknown, though it is believed that official UN estimates vastly underestimate the total number of people.
The aforementioned former nations of Hoffmanikstan, Tanagaria, and Dyztopia were all founded shortly after World War Two by the three main branches of the illustrious Hoffman Family, the reputed founders of the entire Hoffmaner race and developers of the Hoffmanese language. While Hoffmanikstan and Tanagaria formed liberal, democratic societies, Dyztopia quickly collapsed in upon itself and formed a brutally oppressive state regime notable for vast and sudden fluctuations in their official policies. As the Tanagarian and Hoffmanistani governments attempted to aid their Dyztopic cousins, their Imperial Court used these overtures as signs of hegemonic ambitions and launched a full-scale invasion of their lands. The so-called Hoffmaner Ethnic War was a disastrous, six-year conflict that resulted in the loss of over five million lives, over seventy percent being on the side of the Dyztopian military for their horrendously costly human wave attacks. While the Hoffmanikstani/Tanagarian Alliance eventually proved victorious, the resulting collapses of their respective economies and a massive regional famine partially caused by a lack of manpower in the fields and Dyztopic slash and burn tactics reduced the entire region into chaos. However, after years of foreign aid, the now coalesced Hoffmanamffohan region seems to be on the up bound.
Climate
Located in the North American Midwest, Hoffmanamffoh features hot, humid summers with very cold, dry winters. However, during the spring and early summer, there is sufficient rainfall for the region's rich, fertile lands to provide a respectful bounty of crops. However, between the three main regions of the country, there are notable differences between the Northeast Dyztopia, the Central Hoffmanikstan, and the Southwest Tanagaria; with the north being much colder and flatter and the south being much drier and mountainous.
Population and Demographics
While the total population of the nation is still unknown, official UN and pre-war censuses of all three countries reveal a good deal. Approximately 92% of the population consists of the ethnic Hoffmaners, a heavily mixed race formed by centuries of intermarriage between Native Americans, Germanic and East European immigrants, and Latino expatriates from Mexico. Furthermore, while English is the official language of the government, Hoffmanese is widely spoken as a second language even though it is unique and native to their region. However, over 99% of the population speaks English, so there is no real problem with the quarter of the population that fluently speaks the native region's language as well.
Government and Politics
Like their more democratic predecessors, Hoffmanikstan and Tanagaria, Hoffmanamffoh is a very liberal, democratic state. However, the new nation has turned away from the unitary traditions of their previous states and has instead formed a federalist form of government with three lesser republics separated by historical differences and thirty-two states formed around attempts to form approximately similar population levels throughout. As such, the four Dyztopic states are massive in geographic size yet their populations are equivalent to their smaller counterparts to the south. The republics and the states all have limited self-autonomy within their boundaries, but each of the governments above has the power to intervene in regional or even local matters should situations get out of hand or if the smaller governments should request federal or republic aid.
The order of governmental influence is as followed:

While the smaller regions have the ability to build their governmental structures in any way they deem fit so long as they form a quasi-republican system with democratic guarantees, the government of the Federation is constitutionally mandated and split into three federal branches, the Executive, the bicameral Legislature, and the Judiciary.
The Executive Branch consists of the President of the Federation, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the nation as a whole, acts as both the head of state and head of government, and as the Commander-in-Chief of the Hoffmanamffohan military. The President can only serve a single, six-year term in office and can only be removed from office through constitutional impeachment proceedings, a joint declaration of incapacity by the other senior members of the Executive and at least a three-fourths majority of both Houses of Congress and the Supreme Court (see below), or through simple retirement. The President is elected along with a Vice President who serves an identical term in office and has the duties of presiding over the Senate, casting a tie-breaking vote in that body, and serving as the senior advisor to the President in a field or fields of the their choosing. Furthermore, the Executive Branch consists of a sizeable Cabinet that is similar to the American counterpart.
The current president of the Federation is Dr. Elijah Hugo Harvey, a highly decorated medical officer of the former Tanagarian Army who proved instrumental in the rebuilding effort of the past several years. When the first election was held two years ago, Harvey was overwhelming elected due to his past services. As such, he is entitled to serve for an additional four years until his term expires. The current Vice President is former Tanagarian President Douglass "DeWitt" Whittaker.
The Legislative Branch consists of two branches: an upper Senate consisting of two Senators from each state and four Senators from each republic serving varied terms (four-years for State Senators and eight-years for Republic Senators) and a lower Popular Assembly assembled much in the same way as the United States House of Representatives.
Finally, the Judiciary consists of hundreds of lesser courts and one twelve-member Supreme Court. All federal justices serve life-terms and are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate.
