Hogsweat-Scandavian War
OOC reasoning
Scandavian States, has often been accused of imperialism by the more liberal elements within the region. While to some extent this is true, Scandavian States has after all attempted for a considerable time to play the part of a benevolent moncharchial empire, while having never actually launched a war with the express purpose of gaining land and population. Some would point to his annexation of Kuwait, however as it was RPed the annexation was not aggressive and came after nearly a hundred years of protecting Kuwait from the expansionistic Al Anbar. However, after the collapse of UnAPS, Scandavian States was no longer compelled to be so scrupulously careful in the way he conducted wars, and in addition wanted to have an excuse to RP with some of the newer nations without setting off a potentially devastating region-wide war. After asking for volunteers, Hogsweat quickly stepped forward and they began to plan ways to start the war.
The basic premise is this: after an ill-timed comment about the then seriously ill Emperor by the Hogsweatian delegate, Duchess Asiya Saleh (the Imperium's head diplomat and the Emperor's niece) responds in a rather emotional way that unintentionally slanders the other deledate and then storms off before he can appologize. This unwittingly sets off a chain of events that lead to Hogsweat sending one of its Virginia class SSNs to bombard the island city of Galicia with cruise missiles. After the strike destroys 4 buildings and kills 50,000 people, coincidentally enough of New Years Day, the Imperium begins combing its spy satellites for information and it finds that the captain of the sub was a rather incompetent one; he had surfaced before firing his missiles.
Some would say that the root cause of this war, a pair of insults thrown at each other relatively senior members of two governments, is not sound reasoning for a war. I would counter that very few wars have had sound reasoning in the past and that it is only within the last century or so that wars fought in the name of opposition to tyranny and other such noble causes have become relatively common. For example, one of the most brutal wars in humanity's history, the 30 Years War, was fought because Protestant and Catholic Kings and Emperors simply refused to admit that there are differing ways to worship God, that different interpretations of the Bible might not be "heresy."
Events to Date
The war is not yet completed and is in fact just really starting. Right now the only things of note are the blockading of Hogsweat and the subsequent (and ongoing) bombardment of military installations within Hogsweatian coastal cities, as well as the bombing of militarily and economically important facilities within the Hogsweatian capital of Dorsalgrad. Of course, the first true Imperial military action was the kinetic bombardment of Hogsweatian naval bases and the sinking of two Doujin class superdreadnaughts by the same method, which marks the first time any vessel within that class has been rendered totally combat ineffective during combat.

Hogsweat launches 12 Tomahawk cruise missiles against the Scandavian city of Galicia. Early estimates state that around 20,000 are dead and twice that many are wounded.
Twelve hours later Empress Lien Larsen addresses the region and the world. In her speech she warns that those responsible, "will face the consequences" and she also warned the crew of the submarine that launched the missiles that, "In abstentia, you shall be tried by the High Court of the Imperium for the mass murder of Imperial citizens and crimes of war... They will die by my hand and the blade of the Sword of the Imperium."

Foreign aid is sent and begins arriving at the capital of the Galicia Isles province.
Hogsweat begins mobilization for the defense of its homeland, the effort is marred by confusion and poor logistics.
The Imperium launches satellite-based kinetic weapons against Hogsweat's primary air bases and two Doujin class superdreadnaughts in harbor. Both Doujin class vessels, HNV Apple Pie and HNV Fried Bacon, are sunk after extensive vaporization of their decks and puncturing of the hull below water.

The Great Scarlet Fleet of the Imperial Navy sets sail under the command of Fleet Admiral Xavier de Soto. Under the Admiral's flag is the fixed-wing superdreadnaught Tartarus (flagship), 12 Morrigan class carriers, 2 Leviathan class superdreadnaughts, 10 Fenrir class dreadnaughts, 12 Ryuho class guided missile battlecruisers, 48 Alexandria class attack cruisers, 36 Gaea class guided missile destroyer, 36 Sabre class hunter-killer destroyers, 36 Revenge class escort destroyers, 36 Clan Grant class fleet replenishers, and 12 Upholder class fleet attack submarines.

Hogsweat kills 200,000 of its convicts, blaming Scandavian States. Official declaration of war follows. Hogsweatian HiKom issues the Defense of the Motherland! Act, allowing them to requisition anything ande everything they need to wage war with Scandavian States.

Great Scarlet Fleet sets up blockade and begins bombardment of Dorsalgrad, it is expected that no static defenses or bases will remain operational once bombardment is complete in three days time.
Blatant attempts at arming the Hogsweatians with superior weapons are ignored by the Imperium for the time being. This policy might or might not change when the war begins in earnest.

The first air battle of the war is a small, but decisive victory for the Imperium. 12 F-107C naval fighters attack and destroy three Hogsweatian Mirage F-1 land-based fighters. One F-107 is lost while closing with the sole Mirage that survived the original launch. That the missiles managed to achieve a lock at all is judged to be a freak ocurrance, there appeared to be no failure in either the radar cancellation system or other passive stealth measures.
Operation: Icarus begins. 5 wings of B-106 Warcrow medium bombers take off from West Galicia Isle at 4 PM local time, when they arrive at their launch point roughly two hours later it is 9PM Dorsalgrad time. Several thousand ASM-2C Fasthawk Air-Luanched Anti-Radiation Cruise Missiles are fired towards Dorsalgrad, with the goal of completely and utterly destroying Hogsweatian air defenses in the area. The attack destroys 16/20 Dorsalgrad Radar System Stations and GPS Relay stations.
Operation: Icarus continues with SSM-2B ALCMs launched from B-101 Bombardier heavy bombers. A total of 1,200 missiles are launched against every major industrial or military target in Dorsalgrad, with the goal of obliterating anything that could potentially prolong resistance in Dorsalgrad. The raid is successful, destroying most if not all of the weapon factories and the Hogsweatian Military Base.
Operation: Icarus concludes with the strategic bombing of all known harbor and coastal defenses in and near Dorsalgrad. 34,200 tons worth of bombs were dropped, including 13,680 incendiary bombs of various types.

Halladi advisers arrive in Dorsalgrad. They are told to redirect their course to Hurskev where the interim Hogsweatian government is operating.

The DHKN-37 Morningstar becomes the first Sabre Class Destroyer to fire shots in anger. The Morningstar engages the Submarine that fired the missiles at Galicia Isle. Two destroyers, the NGV Bizon and the NGV Extrema are destroyed, and the Submarine surrenders after shore batteries engage the eight Scandavian destroyers.
