Introduction

The Collective Oligarchy of Kriegorgrad was on an economic high. People were beginning to get wealth they’d never seen before. This isn’t tolerated in the Kriegos state, as poverty is another method of control for the nigh third world dictatorship. Realising that bullets were being made and not used, as previously mentioned, the people were getting happier and happier and, seeing as they were away from the possibility of starvation, began to doubt the system, as thinking became a pastime. The Oligarchy couldn’t allow this and, with a foreign presence so near the border, it set about to using some of its bullets.

The Battle

Short of being a war, the battle itself started on the eve of a dark, grey day, rain battering down on the soldiers and sending the relatively dry mud into a quagmire worthy of the most horrific World War I battlefield to the sturdy fortifications of the Hogsweatians. Kriegos men charged across what was dubbed “The Killzone” and were blown apart by co-ordinated Hogsweatian machine and tank fire. Aging Centurion battle tanks and MIG-21 aircraft were all the support the ineptly armed Kriegos Proletarian Guardsmen had. Although they tried their best, they couldn’t truly counteract the devastating effect the Merkava battle tanks had on the Kriegos infantry. However, weight of numbers began to tell and, thanks to numerous foxholes, Kriegos infantry finally got to the line of concrete trenches manned by Hogsweatian troopers.

After hours of bloody melee combat, with Hogsweatians setting up checkpoints in their own trenches, a ceasefire was called and the battle was officially over. The Kriegos soldiers were confused but most took the order without question, those who didn’t were promptly executed by COMSEC (Collective Oligarchy Mass Security). Despite the battle being ended, this led to frosty relations between the two states of Hogsweat and Kriegorgrad, the results of which can still be seen today.
