An ancient noble family, one of the most important aristocratic dynasties in Xirnium.

Notable members of the Numêsalquó family

Löndrándir Numêsalquó

Ancestor of Eléanor Sabëlinà. A man infamous for his extreme cruelty. Famous for crucifying every captured Christian soldier of a defeated Papal army upside down following a minor battle of the disastrous Xirniumite Crusade of 1087.

Ingványë Sabëlinà

Ancestor of Eléanor Sabëlinà and a sixteenth century duchess. Named in honour of her maternal grandmother. An arbitrator of the Court of Star Chamber, grand chancellor of the House of Chevaliers.

Eleonóra Hirulómë

A great aunt of Eléanor Sabëlinà, and younger sister of Eléanor’s grandmother. Unlike her two siblings, Eleonóra neither married nor had any children.

Born in 1903 (three years after Eléanor’s grandmother), Eleonóra was for a time an influential member of the House of Chevaliers (which was a far more politically active organisation back in the first quarter of the twentieth century than it is today). Eleonóra possessed quite a sharp wit and great charm, which accounted in part for her great popularity amongst the nobles.

Eleonóra was quite brilliant in the field of literature; a fairly successful poet, dramatist, short-story writer, essayist and critic in her own right, though not quite on par with Xirnium’s finest of the era. Eleonóra was also a notable patron of the literary arts.

Eleonóra was known to have had several tempestuous affairs with both married and unmarried men and women; each relationship of which, when terminated, brought about terrible bouts of depression in her. From most accounts it seems that she was highly possessive and jealous, though oddly enough she spurned the marriage proposal of her most long-lived lover.

Eleonóra was extremely driven and suffered a nervous breakdown in 1934. She recovered for, a time, but fell ill again and committed suicide at the age of 34. In her later years she had been tormented by her serious addiction to morphine.

Lucìllia Sabëlinà

Younger sister of Eléanor Sabëlinà. Parliamentary member of the Xirniumite Progressive Democracy Party and Government backbencher.

Eléanor Sabëlinà

Current head of House Numêsalquó, born 1972. Briefly married to Veúrötur Silvëndil, though now divorced.

Eléanor is currently Foreign Minister of the Xirniumite Republic and one of the most powerful politicians of modern times.
