The House of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios is a noble family that is also the current ruling house of Magnus Valerius. The family is a house that is officially recognized as the successors to House of Kalderis. The members of this family are the descendants of the illustrious general Boris of Northrun.

Early History

The origins of the family are likely from the coastline north of the city of Trentino around 912 AD. Artemidoros Vassilakos, a nobleman, married off one of his daughters to Boris of Northrun. The reigning king, King Phillip III granted a fief to Boris northeast of the capital city of Valerius Prime (now Isangrad). There, the family began as minor nobility, farming the fields and overseeing the quarries in the hills northeast of Isangrad. Borivich Selo was founded by Boris's son, Peter, in 935 AD, and the small town still remains the heart of the House. Little else happened until eight generations later, when in 1152 AD, Paul married the daughter of another nobleman, Arsenios Seleukios, Count of Neippos. The family thus added 'Seleukios' to its name, giving it the modern name of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios.

The House played little importance in history, and continued to be only lords of Borivich Selo and its environs. Many of its members were married to commoners and thus melded in the greater community, and the fertility of the family was lacking. In fact, by 1950, Feodor Borivich was the last direct male descendant of Boris of Northrun alive. However, things changed drastically for the family when Feodor's son, Alexander married Constantina, the heiress to the throne of Magnus Valerius (after two of Tsar Meijis's sons died without leaving suitable male heirs and Meijis's third son removed from the line of succession thanks to the Valerian Purity Laws).

With the death of Meijis, Alexander Borivich became Alexander I of Magnus Valerius and started the rule of the minor, obscure family on the Valerian throne.

The Family Today

The House of Borivich-Vassilakos-Seleukios has the main line of descent from Alexander I and Constantina, along with a couple of additional branches formed by daughters marriaging out. The extent of the family as of today:

Radetzsky-Borivich-Seleukios Branch

Breanna, daughter of Alexander II, married Johan Radetzsky, a direct descendant of former Military Advisor to the Crown Josef Radetzsky (Josef was minister under the reign of Alexander II). They formed the Radetzsky-Borivich-Seleukios Branch of the family, although Johan Radetzsky, who has a disdain for nobility, has made the name of his children officially known as "Radetzsky" instead of its long form. In 2045, Breanna and her husband were exiled from Magnus Valerius by Breanna's brother, Alexander III. They now have settled down in Empire of Brazil, still yearning to return to The Grand Empire.
