Nationstates Description
The Empire of Hrydonia is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, cynical population of 2.307 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Defence and Religion & Spirituality are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 92%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry. Government officials have to mortgage their homes to make ends meet, nursing mothers are often arrested for indecent exposure, skateparks can be found in every city, and the government is cutting back on the number of political prisoners executed each year. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hrydonia's national animal is the hyperactive teenager, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
History

- Hrydonia was discovered in the mid-1600s A.D. by an English explorer, who named the area Hrydonia after the original inhabitants, who called themselves the Rydoniet, which in Latin became Rydonii from which Hrydonia was derived. In the early 21st century AD, Hrydonia passed both the 400 million and 500 million population mark. In 2000, the population was 401 million and in 2025 it was 591 million. After establishing various colonies in the Sol system in the late 2000s and early 2100s, several centuries of slow expansion to other stellar systems and the development of FTL travel in the late 2300s led to, by the early 2500s, a large portion of Hrydonia's population being based on Kingston and the surrounding star system, as well as several nearby stellar systems. Hrydonia ceased to exist in 2930 A.D, with the territory ruled composing of part of "the Old Country", several space stations, the entirety of 4 star systems, and a total of approximately 6.
Government
The Empire of Hrydonia is currently a dictatorship, however maintaining all the appearances of the former constitutional monarchy. The government is divided into three branches, the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. The Executive branch is headed de facto by the Emperor but de jure by the Prime Minister. Legislative branch is composed of Parliament, which is bicameral and consists of the upper house, or the Senate, and the lower branch, or the National Assembly. The Judicial Branch is composed of the Supreme Court. Parliament is weak and is used mostly for unanimously approving the Emperor's policies. The office of Prime Minister is currently occupied by Maximillian Jones, who is very astute politically, and generally agrees with the Emperor when he sees fit. He is unique among Hrydonian policymakers that if he disagrees with the Emperor, rather than disappearing in the night the Emperor will readily discuss with Prime Minister Jones the disagreement.
Military Main site: Military of Hrydonia The four branches of the Hrydonian military fall under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Ministry of War. The Imperial Armed Forces are organized similarly to most militaries the world over, in the form of an Army, Navy, Air Force, and Imperial Marine Corps. (After 2120, the Air Force became known as the Imperial Aerospace Force) The Navy has a strength of 5,767,500 service members, while the other three branches have a combined strength of 40,372,500 service members. The Imperial Guard, charged with protecting the Emperor and his immediate family, is part of the Hrydonian Army. It is used as shock troops, and numbers "in the thousands", according to sources close to the Imperial Ministry of War.
Foreign Relations Hrydonia tends to stay isolationist regarding the world at large, and indeed does not have any formal relations with any country.
Geography
Hrydonia's large holdings on Terra are sparsely populated, since the colonization of Kingston and the steady transfer of people from Terra to Kingston. Most of the people that remain either couldn't afford or don't want to leave Earth, and so they make up about a tenth of the population. Forces from every branch of the military defend the Old Country, as it is commonly called.
