Imardeavia is a country with a very firmly economically left-wing population, with only a tiny party known as the Capitalist League advocating the free market. Their leader, Madeline Bell, a firm neo-liberal, holds their only parliamentary seat of the 504 available. The rest of parliament is hotly contested by the National Socialist or Nazi Party who have 41 seats, and the Liberal Socialist party, who have the remaining 462. Mikorlias Zard, leader of this party, is a strong advocator of the party's left-wing policies, including equal civil rights, free speech, a government regulated economy, high welfare and public service funding and strict environmental controls to preserve the country's renownedly lush and beautiful forests. The countries liberal policies have been compared with those of the Scandinavian countries. Indeed, the UN, of which Imardeavia is a member, once classed it as a Scandinavian Liberal Paradise, but now calls it a Civil Rights Lovefest.

Imardeavia began as a fiercely patriotic country of democratic socialists, the Nazis possessing rather more influence than they currently do. The country became progressively more liberal as the Liberal Socialists gained more power under the guidance of Mikorlias. The creation of the Capitalist League occurred later, shortly after the implosion of the industrial economy, when Madeline Bell arrived from Britain to improve things.

Recently, the President approved a bill legalising small-scale capitalism in areas such as Book Publishing and Trout Farming. Whilst not handing over amenities and public transport to the corporations, other industries were to be privately owned by companies, albeit with tight environmental and fair practice restrictions. The Nazis took no time in criticizing Mikorlias for his 'greedy anti-socialist actions that damage our national superiority', and several of the Liberal Socialist party were disappointed with the decision. Others however, seemed to find this small pro-capitalist movement to be a wise decision on Mikorlias' part. Madeline Bell, speaking for the Capitalist League, declared that this was 'the first step on a road to common sense and freedom, a step the likes of which my party and I hope to see many more of in future.' In response Mikorlias had to say, 'That, I'm afraid, will not be so. This is a measure to attempt to increase the efficiency of certain industries whilst not succumbing to capitalist rule. Corporations can be a positive force that can work well with the principles of my party, so long as they are kept in check by the government and no company is permitted to become too powerful, especially in the field of politics. So no Madeline, my party and I shall not be taking further steps to free national industry, and your neo-libertarian desires of permitting private campaign donations, desires which you have previously expressed, are unlikely to become manifest.'

The government is divided into two sectors- the parliamentary sector and the departmental sector. The Parliamentary sector consists of elected MPs, placed into power by a proportional representation voting system. The job of these MPs is to propose, debate and either pass or reject new laws, which are then approved by the President. The Departmental sector is divided into departments, which in turn are divided into sects. Their job is to carry out the decisions of parliament. The elected President chooses the heads of departments, the heads of departments choose their staff and the heads of each of their sects, the heads of the sects choose the next level of staff and so on. The departments, and their respective sects, are as follows-

The Department of Home Affairs

  • Security Sect
    • Rehabilitation Sect

The Department of Foreign Affairs

  • Diplomatic Sect
    • Military and Investigation Sect
      • Foreign Aid Sect

The Department of Healthcare

  • Hospital Sect
    • Specialist Care Sect

The Department of Education

  • Primary Sect
    • Secondary Sect
      • Academic Collegiate Sect
        • Vocational Collegiate Sect
          • Doctorate Sect

The Department of Amenities

  • Electricity
    • Water
      • Heating
        • Public Transport
          • Entertainment

The Department of Land Management

  • Environmental Sect
    • Construction Sect
      • Agriculture Sect

The Department of Economy and Welfare

  • Taxation Sect
    • Welfare Benefit Sect
      • Social Aid Sect
        • Analytical Sect
          • Commercial Regulation Sect

In order to be included in the electoral system, a party must present itself with at least 100 potential members of parliament and shadow heads of all departments and sects, even if the party's policies include the eradication or creation of certain sects or departments, or an overhaul of the departmental sector itself. Parties are then provided with a small yet adequate flat sum of money for use in advertisements when campaign season begins. Private donations are not permitted- should such behaviour be witnessed the entire electoral campaign of the party in question is in jeopardy.

The Leftist Aardvark is a species of Anteater, named such because it naturally follows people around if they have strong left-wing politics, and has been known to stick it's large nose up at members of the Capitalist League and authoritarian Nazis. The reason for this behaviour baffles biologists to this day, although many politicians just say that it is due to the creature's overwhelming common sense. In other respects it resembles the oddly cute common Aardvark, which never killed anyone.
