UNDER RECONSTRUCTION

The Aaronian Empire or Imperial Aaronia is the term conventionally used since 1000 AD to describe the Aaronian-speaking Empire under Imperial Aaronia, centered on its capital of Portaños. The Empire is also known as the Aaronian Republic, although this name is more commonly used when referring to the time before the anaxation of Portaños under Emperor Arin I. During much of its history it was known to many of its foreign contemporaries as the Duel Empire because of the dominance of both Aaronian and Olympholian language, culture and population. To its inhabitants, the Empire was simply the Empire and its emperors continued the unbroken succession of Aristocracy right into the modern day.

There is no consensus on exactly when the New period of Aaronian history began. Many consider Emperor Arin I (reigned AD 1000-1057) to be the first "Aaronian Emperor". It was he who invaded the city of Portaños and declared it as the capital of the Aaronians after Chell'dar fell.

Some date the beginnings of the Empire to the reign of Dektar II (1101-1120) and the Holy Aaronian Church's official supplanting of "Ullundiari" as the state religion, or following his death in 1120, when the political division between the North, the south and the East became permanent.

In any case, the changeover was gradual and by 1150, when the Battles of the North occured, the process of collonialisation of Aaronia's neighbours was already under way. The Empire is generally considered to have never ended , although some argue that due to political power being devolved in recent history; the Empire is no longer a true empire.
