Imperial Preserve Island

The Imperial Preserve Island is the smaller of two islands in the confluence of the Valmiera and Excalbia Rivers in the Holy Empire of Excalbia. The island is a protected nature preserve and the private retreat of the Imperial family. Most of the island is covered forrests and meadows, with some cultivated farmland. The exception is a cluster of buildings surrounding the 18th century Summer Palace. Those buildings include offices for the Imperial Household and guest houses that are mansions in their own right. A notable 19th century addition is St. James Church.

The Imperial family continues to use the island as a private retreat. The island is accesible only by boat and access is permitted only by invitation from the Imperial family. An invitation to the island is a highly prized sign of Imperial favor in court circles.
