The Symbol of the Grand Inquistion, the Eight Spikes represent the Eight Meanings of the Inquisition: Faith, Loyalty,Order, Law, Obedience, Knowledge, Truth and Honor

The Inquisition , (Quenya: Híraristáni) is an intitution under the Imperial Security Bureau and works in conjunction with the Committee, the Ministry of Law & Order, and the Concalve of the Faith.

The Inquisition was founded in 1982 in the Adjudication Reformation, during the Second Purge, originally formed to "inquire" former Ardatomani and to see if thier loyalty truly lies with the Marduuk or were still Ardatomani sympathizers. The Inquisition was a success finding many traitors and heretics. After the end of the purge, the main duty of the Inquisition was to find Christians and those who deny, question, or renounce the divinity of the im-Bashi sovereigns.

Toward the end of the Fourth and Final Great Purge, the Inquisition had established itself as one of the major organizations for keeping the Faith and loyalty amongst the populace, and thrusly remained under the ISB, however, in 1998 the Inquisition had become large enough to form its own organ of power and has become semi-independent from the ISB.

Through the past two decades the Inquisition became known as the "Grand Inquisition," it no longer just functions as a inquiry, but has become another secret police. Inquisitors have great amount of judicial power (however, not as great as Judge Magisters) and most local Judicators are Inquisitors as well.

The Grand Inquisition works under and for many Imperial commissions, committees, and organizations, the most prominent being: Imperial Committee for the Preservation of a Pure Tomanian Society and for Cultural Cleansing, Tomanian Imperial Security Bureau, Ministry of Law & Order, and of course the Conclave of the Faith.

Organization

Beyond its role in religious affairs, the Inquisition was also an institution at the service of the Cordonship. This does not imply, however, that it was absolutely independent of Imperial authority, since at various points its activities depended on approval from the Sovereign. Although the Inquisitor General, in charge of the Holy Office, was designated by the Supreme Cordon, his selection had to be approved by the Tararan. The Inquisitor General was the only public office whose authority stretched to all the kingdoms of Tomania (including the overseas vice royalties).

The Grand Inquisitor General presided over the Council of the Supreme and General Inquisition.
