Irukana is a Kiravian colony, situated on a bay in the North Ocean.

History

Ignazia Tilures discovered the bay where the colony would be built. Her midname was "Irukana", so she named it "Irukana Bay".

The area within the bay was settled by Kiravian traders who set up a port settlement in the protected bay. Farmers and craftsmen settled further inland.

The protected bay was ideal for a naval base, so the Imperial Military moved in and built a small navy port to serve the fleets of the North Ocean. An army base was constructed as well.

Settlers of North Coscivian ethnic groups immigrated to the new colony in search of land. Although farming soils were not optimal, they worked well enough to sustain the population.

Irukana was attacked by a confederation of village-states to the Southeast, but the assailants were crushed by the Imperial Military. An administrate was set up, and 100 Kiravians were brought to control the population.

Today, the colony is much the same, although troubles with neighbouring tribes and petty states is becoming a significant problem.

Culture

The culture of Irukana is largely borrowed from the cultures of North Coscivia. Honour, a cultural value to all Kiravians, is taken a step further, and fights over insults are quite common. Direct Democracy, another North-Cosciv cultural trait, plays a large role in local politics.
