The Island Calendar, used primarily in Athamasha, counts from the year 1 when the first Colonii settlers arrived on the island. It uses the standard Gregorian system for months. The days of the week are counted in eights and given the simple names of "prima," "secunda," et cetera, up to "octavia." Years are grouped into ages (aeva), which count as follows:

  • If it is on the regular calendar, starting in the year 1, it is not given any designation, or is called "Aevum Vivens," the living age.
  • "Aevum Anterior" (The Age Before) starts sixteen thousand years before year 1.
  • "Aevum Mortuum" (The Dead Age) begins eight thousand years before the first year of Aevum Anterior.
  • "Aevum Primum" (The First Age) begins a myriad myriad myriad (one trillion) years before the start of Aevum Mortuum and is used mostly only for scientific counting.

For computers, years before 1 are counted in the negatives. For example, 15000 AA would be expressed -1000 by an Athamashan computer. Increasingly, people tend to use the negative notation rather than the system of ages which has been employed.
