J9

Janine (Leetspeak: J9; literally "Jnine") is a bioandroid (more accurately, a SLD) constructed by the organization PHOENIX. J9 is a replicant of Mai's mother Jamie Kerr. The number "9" could indicate that there were 8 failed models before her. However, sometimes the android is refered to as "J9K" - thus either K for "Kerr" or for "1000". J9 possess limited mind fragments of Jamie Kerr, gathered through unknown means. It could also be that certain schemes and memories were coded into J9 on the basis of Jamie's behaviour and experiences in life. It has been proposed that PHOENIX did not construct the SLD, but rather Dr. Kerr, Jamie Kerr's brother.
