The Corporate Racing Nation of J Gordon is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.657 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Defence and Commerce are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Citizens are barcoded to keep track of their movements, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, artists are jailed regularly and art-burning parties are common, and CEOs and corporate executives are frequently found striking for better stock options. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. J Gordon's national animal is the Jeff Gordon Fan, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Gordon.

History: Pre-June 5, 2005

On August 4th, 1971, a small group of immigrants landed on what is now present day J Gordon. The group of about 2,448 people were led by a man known as El Emperador De Jackass (True identity is still unknown). El Emperador De Jackass set up a colony where they had landed and called it J Gordon.

Several years went by and the colony thrived and soon became The Republic of J Gordon. The Republic thrived for several years, before it underwent a drastic change.

History: June 5, 2005 to December 11, 2006

June 5, 2005

It was a quiet start to the day on June 5, 2005, as the record books say. At 3:43 PM that afternoon, air-raid sirens went off. Many people dismissed the sirens as just a malfunction. However, it was later found to be a member of the old Republic attempting to alert the citizens of a drastic and unexpected change. At 3:45 PM shots rang out in both the houses of Congress. It would soon be learned that five military generals had executed all the members of both the houses of Congress. El Emperador De Jackass soon declared himself emperor of The Empire of J Gordon. Violence erupted in the streets. Trigger happy military forces killed thousands of innocent civilians. Martial law was declared in J Gordon, borders were shut, and military forces were recalled.

After it was determined that five military generals had committed the murders of tens of thousands of J Gordon citizens, they were sentenced to death. El Emperador De Jackass made the following public announcement: “I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from anyone in the military.”

June 6, 2005

The day after the government takeover, several rebel groups with the assistance of several defected high-ranking general began forming around the borders surrounding J Gordon. At 8:15 PM, a rebel extremist named David Brown shot El Emperador De Jackass. Initial reports had the Emperor being anywhere from unharmed to killed in the attack. It was later found that El Emperador De Jackass had taken a bullet to the chest. Brown was immediately taken into custody and killed one day later.

June 7 – June 13, 2005

On June 8, El Emperador’s condition was listed as satisfactory. Five former generals of the J Gordon military were captured later and were charged and killed for crimes against the Empire.

On June 11, Tommy Klutz, leader of the Rebel operation, was captured during a secret operation. He was held in the palace until the war was declared over on June 13. He was then killed.

July 17, 2005 – The Arrival of Jeff Gordon

On July 17 2005, it was announced that J Gordon had traded its overall first pick in the draft to Driveshaft in exchange for Jeff Gordon. When news of this reached the people, a massive celebration took place. Jeff Gordon was in J Gordon touring facilities and meeting with fans and officials the next day.

July 18 – November 6, 2005

During this time, the J Gordon economy went on a downward spiral. Business collapsed, the military dwindled to nothing, people starved. It was the worst of times.

November 7, 2005

In a combined terrorist effort the TSR and the RR made several attacks simultaneously on different parts of J Gordon. Talladega Superspeedway, Grand Central in Gordon City, the Mall of J Gordon in Johnsonville, a Wal-Mart in Labonte’s Town, and the Plaza Hotel in Hendrick all suffered some type of damages.

In all, 404 were dead and 1,124 were wounded in the attack. This would go down as one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in J Gordon’s history.

January 5, 2006

At 5:34 PM contact was lost with the F-35B that El Emperador De Jackass was piloting to return to J Gordon. Shortly after contact was lost, several fighter jets and rescue aircraft were seen taking off from Loomis AFB in North J Gordon. Initial reports claimed it was an attack by angered TFL fans, but those were dismissed as absurd.

January 8, 2006

In the early afternoon of the 8th the J Gordon government held a press conference and declared that the leader since the nation was started, El Emperador De Jackass, was killed by the very government that he ruled. The government then showed video of the explosion and then of the plane crashing into the ocean. The government then allowed certain members of the press to view the body. All the members of the press who viewed his mangled body confirmed that it was indeed El Emperador De Jackass. Later that night, protests began forming in the capital city and within a few hours, it had blown into an all out civil war between the government and the people it represented.

Just two hours after the initial war had broken out 85% of the security forces who were protecting the capital had switched sides. Two hours later the war was over, with the rebellion claiming the victory. The nation was renamed the Grand Racing Republic of J Gordon. The war was named the 4 Hours war.

January 9 – February 26, 2006

During this time, the J Gordon Congressional Committee worked hard on a Constitution for J Gordon.

February 27, 2006

On this day, the J Gordon Congressional Committee announced that they were close to releasing what would be the first and final draft of the J Gordon Constitution. They also voted to combine the J Gordon Police Force and the J Gordon Armed Forces into one unit. They would form the J Gordon United Military Police Force.

March 1, 2006

The J Gordon Constitution was ratified by 85% of the vote with 93.2% voter turnout.

March 5, 2006

The J Gordon Senate was sworn in.

March 6, 2006

Kurt Mayo was officially declared President of J Gordon.

May 21 – June 31, 2006

An F5 Tornado blew through the Talladega Superspeedway killing 6 and injuring 39. The damage was extensive. This is a quote from the press conference…

“The tornado cut a path roughly a quarter mile wide that started at the exit of turn 2 and went down the backstretch and turned to exit the track about 1,500 feet from turn 3. Most of the backstretch grandstands are gone, those that remain, which are very few, are irreparable, and will have to be torn down. Large chunks of asphalt on the backstretch are missing and the entire backstretch will most likely have to be repaved. The catch fence is gone from the entrance into turn 2 all the way down well into turn 3; the only thing that is left is long metal support poles sticking up out of the concrete barriers. The watchtower at the exit of turn 2 is gone and the one in turn 3 has fallen down. The Jumbo-Tron on the inside backstretch has fallen onto the racetrack and the scoring pylon has done the same. The Jumbo-Tron on the frontstretch is bent in toward the infield. There is also structural damage to several of the buildings in the infield and garage areas. The frontstretch grandstands received some damage, mostly from the stress of the high winds are debris. Several maintenance buildings outside the track in turns 2 and 3 and along the backstretch both in the infield and outside the track are gone. The Race-Rail system has been demolished from turn 1 all the way around to turn 4, and the entire complex is covered in debris.” When asked how long repairs would take he replied that it was too early to tell right now as they have only been able to look at the track in general and have not been able to inspect it the entire complex thoroughly. He then said, “Our first priority will be to get the racing surface clear, repaired, and safe for TARA Stock Car testing, however I can’t say how long that will take at this time.”

The storm also claimed the life of long time track promoter Charlie Grubb.

A few days later, the turn 2 tunnel collapsed, resulting in three deaths, as well as the blocking of an exit of water from the torrential rain that had fallen.

Over the next several weeks, Talladega was turned into a wet land. It was determined that the Busch Company of J Gordon was dumping billions of gallons of boiling hot water into Pearson Bay everyday. This caused the water to evaporate and then to fall again over Talladega. The J Gordon government shutdown the plant and used the company’s assets to rebuild the Superspeedway.

June 12, 2006

A government takeover was announced in J Gordon. The Republic switched to a Corporate state when Kurt Mayo acquired 51% of the assets of J Gordon’s government. Very little actually happened in the change. Kurt Mayo kept the title President, and CEO and Chairman. The Senate was kept. Government services were streamlined and the military could be deployed at a moment’s notice.

July 10 – December 11, 2006

The nation of J Gordon underwent a 5 month silence period. No contact with the nation was made during this time. The nation’s status remained at DEFCON 1 and Severe Terror Alert.
