Neversummer and Starting out
When James was just starting his NationStates career he decided that a new region for him and his friends was needed, and the name of this region was Neversummer fitting due to there residence in the real life nation of Canada. The region under the direct control of James swelled to 43 nations, but James rather inexperienced at ruling a large group of people kept power centralised and exclusive. Neversummer was purposly destroyed by James on the twenty third of January 2004, in favour of moving to the new Union of Socialist States(The U.S.S. has since been refounded).
The Union of Socialist States
After the conversion of his good friend, James decided to create a new region dedicated to Socialism and more interegional relations witin NationStates. With the USS quickly growing to roughly 23 socialist and communist nations, James finally realized it was time for at least some sharing of power and created the politburo which was a group of 5 people handpicked by the ruling group to decide foreign policy and elect a President. James retained the presidency while managing to move more meanial jobs to helpers, with this new system James managed to establish relations with other socialist and communist regions within NationStates, so much so that he created the Maldov Pact.
Eventually inactivity plauged the Union and the politburo created a new movement the RDRF.
Supranationalist Governments
The Maldov Pact
The Maldov Pact was a huge alliance of Socialist and Communist regions within NationStates set up by James Schofield and Christina, which had at its zenith had 7 regions and 75 member nations. The Maldov Pact was critisized for being highly beaurocratic to the point that it eventually completly broke down. James Schofield had left when things got out of hand and increasingly bad. Its predisesor was the ISA or International Socialist Alliance.
The ISA
The International Socialist Alliance was the predisesor of the Maldov Pact, it never really got off the ground but came close when the Co-founder of the Maldov Pact returned from a six month hiatus spurred by the terrible conditions within the Maldov Pact. James saw that communist NS players where quite flawed in that they had only one thing in mind, the gaining of power and that any government set up by him for the ISA would ultimatly be destroyed internally. James left and the ISA died within less a month.
The Red Destiny Revolutionary Front
Was the predessor of both the USS and Neversummer, with essentially the same governmental system only it was centred on NationStates communism. It flounderd due to lack of leadership from James Schofield who had this to say on the matter;
"I never really fealt that I belonged to the RDRF and that I was living a charade, long-story short I most certainly did not give the RDRF or the ISA my best effort. All the communists wanted was all the power but none of the responsibility. I dedcided at this juncture that a democracy made up many ideologies was fundementally better."
The RDRF still exists today as a political party within the region of Cascadia, it is run by James former right hand man.
Cascadia and Democracy
Based on James' new zeal for democracy he set-up the region of Cascadia which was based on representative democracy and simply having fun. James had to set-up the government initially so some centralised power was necessary in the begining stages; "Cascadia will become a working democracy, but it will take time and effort. My end goal is to have governments running the region of which I have little to no influence in, then and only then will have I acheived my goal!" In the September 2006 Presidential Elections of Cascadia James ran and lost, finally achieving his goal with 40 nations within Cascadia's borders!
Future Prospects
After James' success with the region of Cascadia he felt it was time to start looking for a new region where he wouldn't be starting in a position of power and to try and work his way up.
