Early Life

James Thomas Devlin was born to Joseph and Alice Devlin in Theodosis, the capital of the United Kingdoms of Trans-Galasia and Moravia on 13 March, 1956. He was the second of six children, and the second of two boys.

In 1968, when he was 12, his older brother Joseph, was killed in a train accident. Due to corruption in the government, the people responsible were never tried. This inspired him to study law at King Samuel University in the city of Dar Setheron. There he met Grace Wells, who he married in 1978, and divorced in 1984. In 1981, despite the family's ability to trace their residency in the UKTGM back to 1024, they were still deported under King William IX's racist laws.

Pre-Presidential Political Career

Once Hekloslogravia was created in 1983, Devlin joined the conservative Hekloslogravian Whig Party, and was elected mayor of the small town of Gaviny in 1984.

Governor of Heklova

Dissatisifed with what he viewed as corruption within the Whig Party, in 1987, he ran for governor of the state of Heklova on the splinter Hekloslogravia Party Ticket, against who should have been the unopposed, incumbant Whig candidate, Francis Hobart. In a closely contested election, Devlin defeated Hobart with 51% of the popular vote, as opposed to Hobart's 49%.

Gubernational Election Percent of Vote Won
1987 51.72%
1991 57.06%
1995 65.35%
1999 50.67%
2003 52.81%

Emergency Presidential Election of 2006

He served as governor for 4 and 1/2 terms until June of 2006, when he was nominated as the Hekloslogravia Party's presidential candidate. He was elected President of Hekloslogravia on 42.11% of the vote in the election of June, 2005.

Vice Presidential Amendment

On the 10th of July, he proposed an amendment to the Hekloslogravian Constitution, that would create the post of "Vice President". The Hekloslogravian Senate later elected Senator Franklin Fiore as Vice President.

Earthquake

Not much later, a massive earthquake, hit Lundburg, causing massive flooding and fires. Thanks to the aid of Imperfectia, many lives (and possibly Devlin's term) were saved.

Garestion Pact

In July, Devlin, along with Comodore Field Marshal Erwin Helker, engineered the formation of the Garestion Pact Military Alliance with Bentay, and Holy Levathian. On the 17th of July, they undertook their first military opperation, liberating the Saytian city, Gil'eaden froim terrorists.

Heart Attack

Late on August 2, 2005, Devlin suffered a minor heart attack, and was rushed to St. Kevin's Hospital. His Vice President, Franklin Fiore filled in for some of his roles. Devlin was released from the hospital, and able to resume his duties on 23 August.

Great Aberdonian War

Devlin led Hekloslogravia durning the beggining Great Aberdonian War, and was almost killed in an airraid on the capital, Garestion, in which the Presidential residence, the "Blue House" was destroyed. Shortly after this, he was seriously injured in the nuclear attack on Garestion, and was declared to be incapible to serve as president by the Hekloslogravian Congress, and was replaced by his Treasury Secretary, Richard Cassidy. Devlin died two days later, of severe radiation sickness, and was given a state funeral. He is buried on the grounds of his home in Gaviny.
