Born in the Southern JRVian State of Gloria, Garrison is the son of wealthy businessman and governor Richard Garrison. At 17 John Garrison enlisted in the Republican National Guard and served for a total seven years, before attending the prestigious University of JRV in Victoria City where he graduated with first class honors in law. At the age of 28 Garrison stood for the Gloria-Clancy seat in the Federal Parliamentary Elections and won by a large majority. During his first term of 6 years, Garrison was noted for his excellence as a politician and served several times in positions of importance. Upon re-election he was appointed to the powerful role of Minister of Finance. Shortly after being elected to a third term in Federal Parliament, Garrison was appointed to the National Chancellery. Upon the retirment of the reigning Chancellor, Garrison was appointed to replace him.
