Jonah Jebediah Rudabaugh (b. January 8, 1952) was Regent of Costa Bravo for eight years. Elected with a stunning eighty five percent majority, Rudabaugh became quite popular with the citizenry for his liberality and consistency when it comes to issues pertaining to civil rights and political freedoms. During his term, income tax declined at a record rate, the standard of living increased dramatically, average median income skyrocketed, and educational reform swept the nation. His handling of the conflicts against Dakkland and Bordura (and other associated nations) was lauded by both supporters and detractors alike.

Early Life

Regent Rudabaugh was born Elias Webbard Ferrer, January 8, 1952, in Halt, to schoolteachers Maynard Ferrer and Jessica Baykeep. His mother died in childbirth, forcing his father to search for better work to support his family (inclusive of baby Elias, his twin brothers James and Abraham, and Maynard Ferrer's mother, Agnes Ferrer). Maynard Ferrer found work as an aide to mayor Jane Albricht of Durban, where he commuted to every morning until 1954, when he had amassed enough money to appropriate a small house in suburban Durban.

Elias attended Durban East Elementary (formally Durban East Elementary for the Talented and Gifted Citizenry of Isla de Muerte) until grade eight, at which time his father sent him to a boarding school in rural England. Elias' grandmother died during his attendance there.

He graduated with honors, and foregoed a college education in order to involve himself in politics.

Political Career

Elias, wary of his biblical name in a chiefly athiestic or agnostic country, legally changed his name in 1971 to Jonah Jebediah Rudabaugh. He initiated his career as a page for congressional officers in Tortuga, and worked his way up to personal aide-de-camp to Jacques Pierot in 1982. He left Pierot in 1985 in order to run for mayor of Tortuga, which he deftly won. He was elected for two whole terms as mayor, then once to Parliament. In 1997 he decided to run for Regent in the next election cycle. His campaign proved him to be wildly popular with the citizenry in general, and he won the vote with a record percentage.

Assassination

Rudabaugh and his administration had famously handled the innumerable conflict in the early 2000's deftly, resolving and rebuilding with unprecedented aplomb, earning his citizen's respect and the hatred of his enemies. This foreign (chiefly Slavic nationalist) distaste for Rudabaugh reached a culmination the attempt on, and success of, Rudabaugh's life on December 15, 2006.

Rudabaugh was giving a speech outside the gates of Parliament regarding the War of Costa Bravo when a sniper bullet struck his podium and lodged in his temple. He was rushed to an unknown location and operated upon, but later died.

Darzheny Marko

After a weeklong investigation by the NBI, a suspect was apprehended and interrogated in Costiglione: Darzheny Marko, a native-born Costa Bravan of Eastern European descent. A press release was supplied on Christmas Day revealing Darzheny as the assassin. He was promptly executed on New Years Eve.

According to the NBI's reports, Darzheny Marko was a Borduran nationalist and member of the Tzaggo Blat, a terrorist organization dedicated against Costa Bravo. He accrued a stock of prototype weapons overseas, which were then smuggled into Costa Bravo by FedEx. One such weapon was a Mark IV Tshak Sniper Rifle, the rifle used in the Rudabaugh assassination. Darzheny was apprehended via his landlord, who had reported him for suspicious activity.

Successor

Unrelatedly, Rudabaugh's successor, HOP Pierre Mallard had died three days prior to the assassination of pulmonary lymphoma. A successor was not selected for some time due to disagreements within Parliament. During the three weeks without a successor, Parliament was given absolute power of Costa Bravo.

Eventaully, by popular vote, Remy Lessard was elected to Regent. He is set to serve out the remainder of Rudabaugh's term, which ends in 2008.
