The Republic of Jonao was founded 16/8/06 after the end of the Sulatumese Civil War in the area. The local government forces have taken control and are now working to rebuild the former province and turn it into a country.
The Sulatum Era
Sulatum was believed to be founded sometime in the third century A.D. The country has had a stable democratic government since the eighteen hundreds and has never fought a war. Although the capital of Sulatum was not in Jonao, Jonao was the most industrialised province within Sulatum. Sulatum itself had a decent-sized military that was not capable of engaging any overseas enemies. In the 1980s Sulatum's private market came under control of the X Corporation. This corporation became a monopoly whose greedy CEO would do anything for an extra dollar. This greed brought the downfall of Sulatum.
Keryan Inc Buys X Corp
Soon enough the X corp came into the sights of the most successful Neo-Erusean company, Keryan Incorporated. Keryan Inc's CEO, Jonathon Keryan, saw an interest in X corp's control of Sulatum and pressured X corp's board to sell the corporation to Keryan Inc. Naturally they asked for a very high price, one that would be out of reach of Keryan Inc, but Jonathon asked for a donation from the Neo-Erusean government to achieve their goal. The NE government agreed, seeing that they could extend their influence into Sulatum, and donated 50% of the amount needed to buy X corp. The Sulatumese government, which believed that government cannot meddle in private enterprise, ordered X corp's board not to sell. But the CEO's greed made him disobey the nation, and he sold his company to Keryan Inc.
