Introduction

Jonathan "Johnny" Leone, born Sebastiano Jonathan Gabriele Leone III, was born on May 26, 1976 in Venice, Italy to Sebastiano and Sabrina Leone. Leone's grandfather (also named Sebastiano Leone) was an Italian-American immagrant, moving to New York in search of opportunity. In the United States, Leone's grandfather met his grandmother, and gave birth to the first Leone son, Sebastiano Jr. Leone's father grew up in the United States, in a bilingual community. In Sebastiano's adulthood, he moved to Italy, where he met his wife and gave birth to Sebastiano Leone III.

Childhood

Leone lived the first 11 years of his life in Italy under the name of Sebastiano, learning both Italian and English fluently within his household. His father, however, was suspected to be involved in organized crime. His father's tendencies did not influence him, and though his father hoped he would become an asset to the Leone organized crime scene, Leone stayed out of trouble and proved himself to be overexemplary in his studies. In spite of the Leone family's successes, they were compelled to relocate to New York, New York in 1987 due to the authorities' pursuit of Leone's father.

Life in America

Leone continued to maintain an emphasis on his educational efforts, as well as his artistic ability. Leone proved to be a very proficient musician, legitimately providing for his family at times. After an assassination was attempted on his mother, at just 15 years old, Leone convinced his father to drop out of the organized crime scene and to live a legit life, thereby keeping the Leone family safe from the threats of organized crime. Leone decided for his own welfare, and instead of going by his given name, he began to use Jonathan as his first name, hereafter being known as Jonathan, or "Johnny" Leone.
After a stellar high school career and graduating early at 17, Leone moved on to Julliard in 1993, the most prominent arts colleges in the United States. Graduating in 1999 at the top of his class, Leone tried his hand at being a musician. However, before he could start, his father re-entered the organized crime scene. In late 1997, Leone was pulled over on the New Jersey Turnpike on the way to a performance, arrested for having an undisclosed amount of cocaine in the trunk (a result of his father's affairs). This ordeal spread quickly, elevating the scandal to a national level even before his father disappeared from the scene in 1998. Needless to say, Leone was sentenced to ten years in prison.

American Prison

Leone didn't take kindly to being unjustly imprisoned. He was not welcomed to the inner circles of the prison and was discriminated upon, harrassed and assaulted at every opportunity. For eight years straight (during which he endured unforgiving prison society) he collected his thoughts, and concluded that some kind of action needed to be taken. Upon studying the simplest of life concepts in prison, water, he wrote two novels in prison: L'Acqua Politica and Libertà di Acqua, spilling out his political and social commentaries, respectively. Through the study of water, he also concluded that it was the most peaceful thing in such a harsh environment. It was then he first developed the founding ideologies of Acqua Pacifica. In early 2005, he was granted an appeal and was found to be innocent. He was thereby released from prison two years early. Enraged, Leone immidiately moved back to Venice, Italy, with nothing but a business suit and a couple dollars.

The Dawn of Acqua Pacifica

Leone returned to Italy a changed man. His novels were published, his ideals spread like wildfires among the public, and many wanted to join in his mission. In late 2005, he found the location of which to put his ideals to work: an environmentally stunning land. He promised the people willing to realize his philosophies never to be unjustly punished, that they would be "as free as water." Stories told by some founding citizens of Acqua Pacifica claim that as Leone looked over this newfound land, and saw the coastline, he said, "Liberamente quanto acqua": "As free as water". January 2006 was the dawn of his new nation, developing rapidly ever since.
